Toast Events Creates an Absolute Knockout Experience for PUMA ‘Sneaker Pimps’

Global sportswear and lifestyle brand PUMA proudly presented the world's largest sneaker exhibition and street-based art show called “Sneaker Pimps”. At the event, PUMA also celebrated 50 years of the iconic suede collection.

Sneaker Pimps World Tour was started by Peter Fahey in the year 2003. It is an exhibition of sneakers, both old and new. It was started by Peter and a couple of his friends who got their collections of different sneakers together. It has traveled to almost 19 countries clocking around 60 cities so far. 

Featuring hundreds of killer kicks, both rare and new, the Pimps experience has grown over the years to include some legendary artists who perform at the event year after year. It also consists of many other activities that make up the street culture such as skating demos, live basketball, street art as well as live sneaker customisation.

This year the Sneaker Pimps world tour came to India for the first time ever. The first stop was in Pune, Maharashtra on March 10th, 2018 as a build up to their main culmination event in Delhi on March 18th, 2018. PUMA being the iconic innovators and pioneers of street culture, showcased their iconic suede kicks in a very creative way at the event, which was applauded by all the attendees as well as other brands taking part in Sneaker Pimps. The brand had given the production and conceptualisation mandate to Toast Events for PUMA Sneaker Pimps.

Toast Events created various structures and installations for PUMA across the entire venue, like a retro vending machine which would dispense cool PUMA Sneaker accessories, a “Sneaker Customisation” zone for the attendees to get their kicks customised, a “Screen Printing” zone to get custom T-shirts made, a mesh exhibition wall that displayed Peter Fayeh’s shoe collection and a photo booth where the attendees got pictures of themselves clicked.

Apart from all the zones created, Toast Events also created a zone for a Moscow based legend Maggie, where he was customising shoes at the event.

Puma brought down legendary graffiti artist Futura, one of the pioneers of street art in the 80’s from New York. To the crowd’s amazement, Futura created a live graffiti art which was followed by a b-boy battle by the Higher Vision Crew. The event even saw Yassine Saidi, the global head of Puma ‘Select’ came down and addressed guests and sneakerheads on the future of the ‘Select’ brand.

PUMA also curated a spectacular line –up of performances for the evening which included names such as Prabh Deep, Raja Kumari, Divine, and DJ Neil Armstrong.

Given the line-up of performances which were scheduled by PUMA, all the event attendees gathered in the PUMA zone to enjoy the music and stayed until the very end of the last beat.

Speaking about the event, Zeeon Rodriques, Operations – TOAST Events Mumbai, said, “It was a privilege to execute the Sneaker Pimps event for two reasons: One, the opportunity to showcase the world’s largest traveling sneaker exhibit that left every sneakerhead in awe. Second, it was a privilege to host legendary street artists like Futura and Neil Armstrong along with names like Raja Kumari and Divine. From an events standpoint, the challenge was to create an experience that would seamlessly fit such an esteemed panel while also keeping global event standards in mind which we executed to the T”.
