Fountainhead MKTG Partners with Times Group to Celebrate Sports Heroes at TOI Sports Awards 2018

Honouring every drop of the blood, sweat and tears shed by sports stars, the recently concluded Times of India Sports Awards – TOISA was a celebration of the best of Indian sports, managed and executed by Fountainhead MKTG (a Dentsu Aegis Network company). Held in Mumbai and attended by the crème de la crème of the Indian sports world, celebrities from our very own Tinseltown, Industrialists, Corporate Bigwigs, Media Personalities, and top management of the Times Group, this glittering event was a fabulous showcase of appreciation and recognition.

For Times of India, this platform was an endeavour to honour the past, celebrate the present and nurture the future of Indian sports. The mandate on the brief was to create an experience around the core philosophy and theme that “#EVERYDROPCOUNTS”; an experience recognising the dream, the efforts, the strength, the passion and the achievements of our sports stars; an award show fuelled by action, drama and an unabashed sense of humour.

Preceded by an enlightening media interaction hours before the event, the Global Mentor – Stefan Edberg – also had a one on one session with kids at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA). Edberg watched the kids in action before offering them a few crucial points of advice on the game. The kids had a chance to quiz Edberg too, which he answered gladly.

The journey of the Indian sports stars was beautifully showcased in the design language at the event with multiple sports themed installations and thematic props to showcase the atmosphere within which athletes train themselves.

Hosted by the very versatile, funster and prolific actor and TV host — Manish Paul, the event saw a myriad of the country's best sportspersons winning awards for their incredible performance in their respective fields. The evening also had several celebrities from Bollywood to present various awards to the sports stars.

At this year’s edition, Swedish Tennis Legend – Stefan Edberg – was recognised with the title of Global Mentor of the Year; Indian Tennis Legend – Vijay Amritraj received the lifetime achievement award; revered as Dronacharya – P Gopichand was acknowledged as the Mentor of the Year and the phenomenal and visionary – Nita Ambani was presented with the Best Corporate Supporter of Sports in India award. These special category awards also included the Youth Icon of the Year presented to Vijender Singh and Sportsperson of the Year presented to Kidambi Srikanth.

The event started with the welcome address by the MD of The Times Group – Vineet Jain. This led to the various awards interspersed with some scintillating entertainment acts by famous performers of our nation and moments of hearty playfulness (throughout the show) created by Manish Paul with some of the players on and off stage.
