The 5th Edition of the multi-genre music festival ‘Comio Enchanted Valley Carnival Mumbai 2017’ is set to take place on December 16 and 17, 2017 at the NESCO Centre In Mumbai.
In an exclusive conversation with EVENTAQS, Shoven Shah, Founder EVC and Director, Twisted Entertainment and Devraj Sanyal, MD and CEO Universal Music Group, India and South Asia; and CEO of EVC, talk about what the audiences can expect from the festival this year.
The festival which was founded on the idea of being India's first and only camping festival has moved base from the Aamby Valley City, Lonavala to an indoor venue NESCO Centre in Mumbai. How do you plan to create a camping festival experience for the audiences in this case?
Devraj: Since we’ve moved away from a destination festival to a concert format in Mumbai this year, camping will take a backseat for this edition. Majority of our audience is from the city & already have accommodation options. We picked NESCO as our concert venue in Mumbai as it’s one of the largest indoor & air-conditioned venues here which makes us India’s largest 2-Day Multi-genre indoor concert this year.
The festival is just a few days away and the lineup has already been announced. Please share with us, what are the new elements that one can expect to see at the property this year?
Shoven: Electronic Family is making their debut in India with us & we’re ecstatic to have some of the best Trance music artists perform in our city with Armin Van Buuren headlining the first day of the concert. Our production & tech team is going all out to create a vibe that is unparalleled to any other concert the city has seen.
This is the 5th edition of EVC and a smartphone brand Comio has come onboard as the title sponsor. What is it that the brand is adding to the festival apart from the monetary investment?
Devraj: Chinese manufacturer Topwise Communication has entered the crowded Indian market with three new smartphone launches under its Comio brand and partnering with an IP like ours was a perfect place to penetrate the Urban Youth market. EVC in its 5th season is not just gearing up for a 2 Day Large Concert on the 16th and 17th of December but has also launched 3 new properties which allow the brand story to extend across Clubs, Colleges and 2/3 Tier cities. Comio is a great partner on board to help promote and extend the brand story of EVC across this age group and via their fast-growing network and media might. Comio has run a campaign to help promote their phones and EVC across this common age group we both are targeting.
What has been the response so far about the ticket sales? Is it better than last year?
Shoven: Well, you can’t really compare it since we’ve always had a large number of campers each year making their way to the festival & the format is different this year. Having said that, we’ve seen a great response from our fans in Mumbai as they are stoked to watch legends like Armin Van Buuren & Arijit Singh perform in the heart of the city.
What according to you is going to be the highlight of the festival this year and why?
Shoven: Comio EVC Mumbai 2017 is committed to giving fans an experience of a lifetime. I think Armin Van Buuren & Arijit Singh’s performances are going are going to be epic.
If you were to describe EVC in one line to its core audiences. What would you say?
Shoven: EVC has established itself as one of the most sought-after music experiences in the country. Join us for India’s largest 2-day Multi-genre concert in Mumbai this year for an incredible experience.
