Messe Frankfurt Argentina and MCI Group have been assigned a major project in congress business. In 2018 - and for the first time ever, Argentina will host the G20 – the foremost international meeting between heads of states, finance ministers and central bank governors from the world's leading economies. Indexport Messe Frankfurt S.A., a subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, together with MCI Group in Argentina (Congresos Internacionales S.A.), was chosen to organise the G20, which includes more than 40 preparatory meetings before the summit that will take place at the end of 2018 in Buenos Aires. The companies join forces for this prestigious international event, to be hosted for the first time in Latin America.

On his part, Mr. Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, said: “We are extremely proud that Messe Frankfurt and our affiliate in Argentina have been chosen to be the preferred partners to organize the G20. This is another credential that values the excellence of our activities and our network in Argentina and South America.”

In this case, the close partnership of MCI Group and Messe Frankfurt Argentina combined with the knowledge and operational excellence of our local affiliates creates a magical partnership to help promote and organize the G20 in Buenos Aires”.

Mr. Fernando Gorbarán, President, and CEO of Indexport Messe Frankfurt S.A, said: "We are extremely happy, and fully committed to the responsibility of organizing this event. As a host country, Argentina assumes a key role due to the Summit's enormous importance in political, economic, social and security matters. For this reason, we decided, for the first time in our history, to form a joint venture with another firm to leverage our capacities, structures, and experience, and to give our full support to the Argentine Government in its role as President of the G20."

Mr. Mariano Castex, Managing Director MCI Argentina & Latin America, also mentioned: “Together with an important local player we have formed a single solid, experienced and professional team to organize more than 48 events related to the G20 Presidency taking place in Argentina during 2018. The Argentine Government has honored our teams and companies by entrusting us with the organization of all these events, a very important challenge we look forward to handling with the utmost professionalism”.

The preparatory meetings will commence during December 2017 and will be hosted in several cities across the country. Messe Frankfurt Argentina and MCI Group will be fully in charge of the realisation of these meetings, which includes organisation and logistics; evaluation and adaptation of the venues; coordination and contracting of various services (accreditation, infrastructure, audio-visual and IT equipment, copying center, etc.); planning and coordination of social events; and management of hotel reservations, among others.

The kick-off event was the transfer of the G20 Presidency from Germany to Argentina, which took place on November 30, 2017 in Buenos Aires. More than 1,500 special guests were present, including President Mauricio Macri, cabinet ministers, and ambassadors.
