Bunty S Walia, Founder and Chairman at GS Worldwide Entertainment was approached by leading industrialists Raj Kundra for venue and production for his new venture, Match IPL. Match IPL is the 1st ever poker league in the country which is affiliated with the International Poker Association. The winners from the tournament won a chance to represent India at the Poker World Cup apart from a staggering amount of 1.25 crore rupees. The event was covered by MTV as they bagged the official broadcasting rights for Match IPL.

The complete event was relying on internet connections as the game was to be played digitally and no physical cards were used by the players. One of the challenges was to get a stable internet for the whole duration of the event. There was no room for a lapse on the internet connections.

When asked about the event execution and challenges to the Production head, Jignesh Jain replied, “Match IPL is distinguished from other leagues as it is one of the most digitally and technically sound leagues and our team had to be digitally and technically sound. It wasn’t a problem as the team is very tech savvy!”

GS Worldwide Entertainment is in charge of Abhishek Bachchan’s Jaipur Pink Panthers and Chennaiyin F.C. This was the first time when GS team was involved with a Poker league to which the team had to get accustomed. Two separate lounges were built for owners and players. Seven different cabinets were created in which games were simultaneously  played among the teams. A presentation area was also a part of the set up where announcements and awards were announced. Kyros and confetti blasts were a part of the final ceremony where winners, runners up, and second runners up were announced.

Bunty Walia who is also a close friend to Raj Kundra quoted, “Match IPL’s first season was awesome and the broadcast is still to happen. Raj’s attempt to make Poker a skill-based sport and push off the gamble and luck part away will not go in vain. We at GS Worldwide Entertainment are proud to be a part of this monumental step and look forward to such opportunities.”

The shoot was covered at Yash Raj studio, Mumbai and was completed in 24 hours in two 12 hour shifts. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra gave away the prize money to the winners and the show will be telecasted on MTV soon.

The complete event was relying on internet connections as the game was to be played digitally and no physical cards were used by the players.
