India Beach Fashion Week

India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) in its last 4 seasons has emerged as a global fashion platform to showcase the latest innovation & design across beach, resort, cruise & destination bridal fashion providing development, exposure and a progressive direction for the destination fashion industry which is estimated to reach at $ 20 billion by end of 2017.

With the 5th edition of the 3-day symposium slated to be held from October 26-28, 2017 in the most loved fashion destination Goa, we at EVENTFAQS reached out to Pallav Ojha- Chief Innovator, IBFW on the revenue model of the IP, brand sponsorship, the growth of the property and more.

How was India Beach Fashion Week conceptualized and how has the property grown in 5 years of its existence?

India Beach Fashion Week is born out of the need to be an open platform for the fashion industry. Not conforming to a select set of people one will bump into at every other fashion week but reaching out to a community at large that believes in living inspired. The resort wear market in India is burgeoning by the day and IBFW as a platform champions the cause of being a destination fashion platform in the country.

What is the revenue model of the property?

There are 2 modes of revenue at IBFW. One is through talent registration in the form of showcasing designers and the other is brand alliances and sponsorship.

What distinguishes the property from other large fashion events in the country?

IBFW is the only destination fashion property in India. Moreover, the IP has now grown to be the only fashion festival in the country. This live experience attracts people from all over the country. All of them converge in Goa over fashion business and entertainment. Our buyer and designer matching program is a pretty serious one and we go that extra mile to deliver value to showcasing designers.

How has the property attracted sponsors over the years and what is the value addition they get at IBFW?

IBFW as an initiative is pretty fluid in nature. We lay a lot of focus on meaningful content. The destination being Goa, we blend in content with a great experience and entertainment to help a brand achieve its on-ground engagement objectives. Branded content has worked very well and we will continue producing it in a bigger way. Brands such as Ginoee Mobiles, Audi, Jeep, Crocs, Shopclues, Invisalign and many more have been associated with IBFW over the last 4 seasons.

What can the audiences expect from IBFW 2017?

The Fall Winter & Season 5 of IBFW are poised to be really strong in terms of the runway content. This season will also feature a lot of entertainment for audiences through the IBFW Passport we have launched. One passport for many great experiences! This season will also feature a live festival stage with a lineup of artists who will add to the vibe at the beach facing venue in the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. The production quality of the runway shows is top notch this time.

How will the impending edition of the fashion week roll out?

IBFW is a national IP. There are pre- on-ground events leading to the main festival in Goa. The IBFW Model Audition is where we hunt for the best beach body. The shortlisted talent gets an opportunity to walk the runway for some major designers. We also do a preview tour to multiple cities where our brands and sponsors also engage with audiences. And then all this leads to the main 3-day IBFW Festival in Goa to be held across 26-27-28 October 2017.

What is the ultimate vision of the property?

IBFW aspires to achieve what legendary platforms such as VAMFF have created in Australia. The vision is to be a congregation of global fashion cultures and catapult India into a league of major destination fashion producers. Our initiative of going the retail route is also aiding our plans as an IP organizer where emerging runway talents get an opportunity to sell what they have produced. Our first store known as COMO opens in Goa this October. IBFW has been and will always be a national level IP and by the grace of God, we will go global!
