70 EMG was responsible for conceptualising and executing the Sohn India Conference for Kora Management (Comorin Capital Advisors LLP) on June 5, at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. In its 2nd edition, the Sohn India Conference witnessed a crowd of 600+ members of the Indian investor community who extended their support towards the cause of paediatric cancer research. Funds from the India Conference went to support cutting-edge paediatric cancer care at the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, recognized as one of the leading cancer centres in South Asia.

The Sohn Conference Foundation is dedicated to the treatment and cure of paediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. The Foundation supports cutting-edge medical research, state-of-the-art research equipment, and innovative programs to ensure children with cancer survive and thrive. The Foundation honours the memory of Ira Sohn, a talented Wall Street professional whose life was cut short when he passed away from cancer at the age of 29. Set up in 1995 by Ira’s family & friends, the Sohn Foundation has raised over $80 million in critical funds to treat and cure childhood cancer.

At the 2nd Annual Sohn India Investment Conference, top Indian investors convened for a day of fresh market insights and spoke about new and compelling investment ideas. Across the day, 10 stalwarts of the investment space in India gave us insights on what is going on in the market. The list of speakers included Raamdeo Agarwal, Joint Managing Director – Motilal Oswal Financial Services; Navneet Munot, Executive Director & Chief Investment Officer - SBI Mutual Fund; Sunil Singhania, CIO Equity Investments – Reliance Mutual Fund; Shankar Sharma, Founder and Head of Global Strategy - First Global; and many more.

Going beyond just the insights, the Sohn conference made its mark as a truly different conference, with popular Bollywood numbers sprucing up speaker introductions, and food spanning cuisines across the country being served to the guests at live stations in the buffet. Indian ethos and a celebration of the spirit of charity behind the conference were the two key principles behind elements such as marigold centrepieces, or ‘safas’ for the waiting staff.
