Cricket is a religion in India and cricketers demi gods who are worshipped by millions. The passion for cricket cuts across all boundaries of race, faith and region in India and brings people together - that is the power of cricket. To keep up with that ethos of bringing people together, YES BANK launched the 3rd edition of YES BANK Premier League (YBPL).
“YES BANK Premier League is a first of its kind sporting platform created by YES BANK to engage with the key MSME community. This league has had over 1500 business owners play a highly competitive cricket tournament at 8 key cities across India this year. YES BANK leverages its association with the IPL to create MINDSHARE in this key MSME segment and in turn convert this into larger MARKETSHARE in key relationships,” says Rajat Mehta, Sr. President & Country Head – Brand, Retail & Digital Marketing.
Over the last 3 years, the tournament has seen a remarkable increase in the number of participating teams, from 36 teams (involving 430 businessmen) in the 2015-16 league to 128 teams (involving 1530 businessmen) in the 2017-18 season, all vying to get their hands on the prestigious trophy.
The prestigious tournament, managed by WOOT Factor Events Pvt Ltd, is a unique engagement platform for the very important MSME community. On inaugurating the Chennai edition of YBPL, C. Babu, President – Tamil Nadu Small & Tiny Industries Association remarked, “This tournament allows us to not only know our members well, but also help us meet and interact with other associations on a common platform. We involved in our business day in day out and such an effort taken by YES BANK helps us come out of our mundane routine and motivate our members."
The cricketing caravan travelled the length and breadth of the country covering 8 cities in the 2017-18 season comprising of Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Ludhiana, Chennai and Bengaluru. The response from the business communities at each location was electrifying with each team participating in full force. The enthusiasm and energy at the ground was infectious to say the least.
The matches encompassed all the emotions of Cricket with some stupendous performances along the way. Be it the nail-biting last over finish in Mumbai finals to the bowling team defending a low score at Pune finals. the matches were full of drama and emotions.
The sporting extravaganza was high on brand sponsorship with Hyundai Motors in association with BSE SME being the Powered By sponsors, Force Sports being the Merchandise sponsor and EVENTFAQS Media being the Community sponsors. Hyundai displayed its SUV Creta at each game and ensured the participating members get a first-hand experience of the car.
