On March 10, Gurugram’s DLF Cyber Hub had an eventful day with Red Bull Neymar Jr. Five National Finals being held at the venue. Spanning across twelve cities, the tournament organized by Red Bull, witnessed footballing talent proving their mettle from every corner of India.

This is an international event by Red Bull along with Instituto Projecto Neymar Jr., an institute run by Neymar Junior, a football superstar based in Brazil. The objective of this event is to promote young football talent across the world, the contest format consisting of 5 players on each side, with 1 substitute, playing a match of 10 minutes duration. The team which concedes the goal has to bench one player from its team.

The qualifiers were divided into two categories, namely Corporate Leg and City Qualifiers, from which 6 and 12 teams, respectively, made it to the final 18. A total of 18 teams from 12 cities across the country competed for the top spot.

Divided into six groups of three teams, each city champion faced 2 others in a league format; with one winning team from each group along with two lucky losers (taking into consideration the goal difference) making it to the quarter-finals.

In closely fought contests, Hyderabad Sporting FC, Hyderabad defeated Hi-Light, Bangalore and Kalina Rangers, Mumbai defeated Barefoot FC, Bangalore to reach the finals. But when Hyderabad Sporting FC, Hyderabad and Kalina Rangers, Mumbai went head-to-head in the final, the spectators bore witness to a bout of the highest caliber.

Finally, Hyderabad Sporting FC showed their class act and defeated Mumbai’s Kalina Rangers by 3 goals to nil, winning the title of National Winners. Now they will be representing India in the International finals which will be held in Brazil.

Top player of the tournament Emad Makavelli was gifted a brand new Suzuki Gixxer bike by Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (one of the partners of the event).

Jagran Solutions (A Unit of Jagran Prakashan Ltd.) managed the complete tournament including the city qualifiers to the league matches and then finally put up a great show in the finals. RedBull and its partners were delighted with this event as it puts India on the sporting map again. This event was yet another feather in Jagran Solutions cap, especially in the sports event category.
