The wedding of the gorgeous Anushka Rajan(daughter of Gammon India Chairman & MD Abhijit Rajan) to Abbishek Doshii (the charming son of real estate developer Mahesh Doshii) was truly an extravaganza, one that attending guests would remember for a long time! The celebration took place on February 13 and 14.

The host venue- the iconic 7-start Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi is within reach of the selective few. The great taste and elegance that’s the signature of Karuna Rajan, the bride’s mother, only added to the delightful celebration which featured a high-profile guest-list spanning Corporate India, Art, Politics, Bollywood, Fashion, Media & Lifestyle – rich in class and pedigree.

The Royal Fiesta

There could not have been a more stunning setting to kick-start the festivities than the Palace Dome. True to its name, the celebration was indeed a ‘Royal Fiesta’.

This stately outdoor venue, all arriving guests were welcomed in the most robust manner with Rio carnival dancers who added a vibrant energy to the proceedings. A vivacious Salsa band played out party classics taking turns with DJ Aman jamming with live percussionists.

A Sky Full of Stars

The most innovatively themed Sangeet party came bursting to life in full splendour at the outdoor setting of the Palace Beach. The look and feel was styled keeping ‘Miami meets Havana’ as the focal inspiration; and pulled off with great flair. The wow factor was evident in glorious flourishes throughout, right from ‘flamingo’ installations to lush tropical prints to dramatic neon.

To top it all – electrifying performances by both sides of the families, led  by the charismatic Abhishek Bachchan!

An Electro-Sufi band and the DJ worked some sublime magic to keep all guests on their toes.

The Wedding Ceremony

The most traditional and aesthetically refined Wedding ceremony took place at Palace Terrace, overlooking the gorgeous Abu Dhabi waters. Everything about it spelt ‘extraordinary’.

For starters, there was the groom’s Baraat, which was high on energy and spirit. It was a tough act to beat. But the feisty Bride had an ace up her sleeve, her own Baraat. It played out with great timing, panache and drama.

Together with her consort (cousin Abhishek Bachchan, no less!) she pulled up right in front of the mandap on an elegant horse-chariot, accompanied by friends and cousins dancing away boisterously.

A Night to Remember

The gala Reception was truly a grand finale of the legendary variety. The Palace Ballroom made resplendent in a never-seen-before ‘Classic-meets-Contemporary’ turnaround that screamed out “WOW”! Guests were individually seated in bespoke-styled settings and treated to a soulful performance by the maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Eventually, the dance floor became the center of attention as all revelers got together for one last burst of celebration that outshone everything else!
