The Arab Social Media Influencers Summit Done Events Dubai World Trade Centre
On December 13 and 14, 2016, Dubai World Trade Centre’s Saeed Hall and Done Events played host and organiser to this year’s Arab Social Media Influencers Summit with over 2,500 guests in attendance including Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who presided over the Arab Social Media Influencer’s Award ceremony.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai were also in attendance for the Awards which showcased the best in social media achievements and recognized key influencers from the region.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was welcomed with a live performance by esteemed UAE singer Hussain Al Jassmi who performed on a grand piano located in the heart of the action.
“The Media Office and Done Events always produce amazing results when we work together. From Arab Media Forum to the Emirati Media Forum and now this, we have a great synergy with the client and it shows. We’d like to thank Mona Ghanem Al Marri and her wonderful team for giving Done Events the opportunity to deliver another amazing event,” remarked Girish Bhat, Managing Director, Done Events.
This year’s event theme was a mix of traditional carnival-inspired aesthetics, city fair elements and clean pastel infused palettes and tones. The theme featured a central boardwalk-style path, which brought guests through the event landscape, complete with a beautifully detailed carousel, a social shooter LED column, rollercoaster inspired speaker area and a Social Slide.
The hall played host to a vast array of engagement hubs, talk areas and activations which attendees could enjoy including studios from various traditional media outlets like Sky News and Al Arabiya and with the event title sponsor, Nakheel Malls, taking over the sprawling Social Media Market. The Twitter Café was a hit with caffeine aficionados in between sessions in the Beauty Hub or the brass pot laden Culinary Hub.
“The key pieces were a hat tip to the carnival theme but strayed away from the obvious tacky approach. This was something highlighted early on during the concept design phase and we worked to create a fun and exciting experience that showcased the informal nature of social media whilst also creating a functional and appropriate space for such a high caliber government event. We aimed to subconsciously infuse carnival elements into a landscape that was otherwise chic, attractive and very clean”, said Uli Stanke, Event Producer, Done Events.
The main stage area was a circular space set within the main boardwalk. Featuring a 300-person low-rise grandstand focused on a proscenium styled stage, the keynote speaker area was the lynchpin of the entire layout and afforded speakers and the audience a sense of seclusion without removing them from the buzz of the event as a whole.
“To build and deliver a space like this in such a short time (4days) was a real achievement. On this one, the devil was definitely in the detail and we made it our mission to deliver on the vision that the client had for this iconic event. We work with the best in the region and our team-focused approach made this possible. We worked tirelessly to figure out the most efficient and suitable solutions for the key elements, from the slide structure to the minutely detailed carousel, each and every piece presented challenges which we fully delivered on,” added Sonu B, Production Manager, Done Events.
Al Jalila was represented at the event by a 6M tall water pixel waterfall. The water dropped to display logos, info and also live updates on the donations made by visitors via the event app.
The Summit took place on December 13 and 14 at the Dubai World Trade Centre’s Saeed Hall and was managed by Done Events.
