Inspired by the Grand Oasis, Devika Narain & Company created a setting amid the deserts of Jaisalmer; lush and opulent, for the famous Narang and Bajaj wedding in Suryagarh, earlier this year.
Veiled under clear starry skies, surrounded by the silent humming of the warm desert breeze lays the marbled Suryagarh. Sun-kissed sand dunes and camel rides in the desert, culturally captivating ceremonies that evoke Indian traditions, vast courtyards bounded by fort walls, candle-lit cobblestoned paths that mark your arrival, gleaming mandaps and Rajasthani folk music Suryagarh, Jaisalmer packs in all this and much more!
The design agency's inspiration found way into a strong palette of greens and blues offset with mustard.
A large tent dominated the space and played host to the fabulous Harshdeep Kaur.
Colourful lanterns and charpoys were used as props. Details like the cushions were painfully handcrafted over a month with prints inspired by the birds and flowers commonly found in this region, in Devika’s trademark style.
The food catered by Food Links from Mumbai complimented the theme in both cuisine and display.
A market place was set up like a grand souk with parrot readers, bangle makers and a live block printer for guests to experience the beautiful culture of the desert.
