Toast Events put together an event for adidas Originals as they celebrated originality with the living legend Stan Smith and adidas Originals India Brand Ambassador, Ranveer Singh on November 4 at Mehboob Studio Bandra
This was Stan Smith’s first visit to the country and having a legend meant having an event of that stature and calibre. The exclusive evening had Stan Smith interact with sneaker-heads and influencers from the fashion, music and entertainment industry. The highlight of the evening was a talk-show featuring Stan Smith and Ranveer Singh, where guests got to know more about the legend, the story behind the shoes, the connection with tennis and more, as the two engaged in conversation. Cyrus Sahukar made a great host for the evening, sharing fun anecdotes and being his humorous self.
The country’s leading designers Aneeth Arora for Pero, Namrata Joshipura, Rahul Mishra, and DAKU payed homage to the timeless sneaker by articulating the Stan Smith in their signature style. These were showcased in display units that hung from the ceiling of the studio. The design was created in such a way that it highlighted these pairs, giving them a larger than life feeling. Also on display were the most iconic Stan Smith shoes through the ages that guests loved watching and wanted to get their hands on.
In terms of design elements, everything at the venue resonated with the brand and its style. Guests walked into the studio through a larger-than-life adidas Originals shoe box. Through that was a zig-zag history tunnel that showcased archived Stan Smith shoes along together with a timeline tracing the development of the shoe from its inception to the present. At the event venue were 12 pairs of Stan’s showcased in display units that were hung all the way from the ceiling of the studio. Apart from the 4 designer shoes that were displayed, there were 8 iconic Stan Smiths that are considered all-time favourites. Mixing the décor with old school and new age was a vintage photo booth; all guests who walked in came out with a strip of 4 photos that were taken back to back. A modern periscope installation was also displayed at the event where guests could see the history of Stan Smith by peeking into the periscope.
Talking about his experience meeting Stan Smith in person, Ranveer Singh said, “The amazing perks of being the brand ambassador for the most iconic streetwear brand in the world! It was a privilege meeting the man behind one of my all-time favourite sneakers, and getting to know so much more about him. I am super stoked to get a pair of Stan Smith sneakers signed by him! This deserves a very special place at home.”
The talk-show was followed by an all original after party, featuring Madboy – Mink and Zokhuma, adding some funk to music inspired from 70s & 80s.
The party witnessed much fanfare in the city, and was attended by a glittering army of celebrities and influencers that included Namrata Joshipura, Nishka Lulla, Rohit Sharma, Ria Kamat, Cyrus Sahukar and Karan Wahi among others.
Commenting on the event, Pummi Khanchandani, Lead Client Servicing, Toast events said, “The event saw the coming together of powerful personalities – Stan Smith & Ranveer Singh in an evening that was dedicated to fans of the iconic and the most coveted sneakers of all time- the Stan Smith. The tonality of the party had to reflect the collection and what it stood for. The shoe being born in the 1970’s to what it is today shows that it stood the test of time. So the designs, look and feel of the event too had to be timeless! Right from the bigger elements to the smaller details like curating a cocktail menu like the one served in Wimbledon or creating a food menu that revolved around the Stan Smith colours – White and green were all looked into.”
The event on November 4 at Mehboob Studio was hosted by Cyrus Sahukar and showcased the most iconic Stan Smith shoes.
