Wizcraft International made the golden jubilee celebration of Punjab’s statehood an evening that many will remember for a long time. Held at the newly revamped Town Hall complex in Amritsar, which was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Prakash Singh Badal, the evening hosted other key guests including Union Minister Arun Jaitley, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and other Corporate and Sporting personalities.
The event featured a larger-than-life set-up that boasted over 13,000 sq. ft. of 3D mapping content that was especially created for the celebrations. Additionally, what added to the festivities was a curated theatrical showing the journey of Punjab through the ages, a thematically designed laser show and extravagant fireworks.
Speaking about the humongous event, Sandeep Mehta, Vice President, Wizcraft International Entertainment said, “Being the important and historic event that it was, the brief from the government was to showcase the struggle and development of Punjab in the last 50 years, especially the last 10 years. The road map was to use modern technology in an interesting and novel way to depict the story of Punjab, thereby making the event larger than life, one which would be remembered for years to come.”

When questioned about the challenges of curating the event Sandeep added, “From the very outset, the emphasis was on research because the content development had to be spot on to ensure all religious and other information was accurately showed. Each element i.e. content, music, lyrics, props and costumes, that was to play an important part to this story-telling, needed to be selected, keeping in mind the sensitivity of the occasion and the people who would be watching it. Some of the technology elements presented in the plan were to be done for the first time in India, which was a daunting task especially, considering this had to done at an outdoor venue located in the middle of one of the busiest streets of the newly revamped Town Hall in Amritsar.”

Over 400 skilled workers and 300 artists were involved in the event and Team Wizcraft faced immense challenges while setting-up the venue, the 270-degree 3D mapping, sky projection, and ensuring immaculate planning and delivery.
It is to be noted that a four-level stage including a unique water frontier was created at a busy road junction for this momentous event. For the first time in the country, a customized sky projection with usage of multiple lasers created an immersive experience that left people in awe, as they witnessed the hi-tech laser show accompanied with spectacular 3D mapping on a large format, (270 feet by 50 feet), throughout the show.
Tech & Production Lowdown
The event celebrated the rich legacy and culture of Punjab, a state that has for long contributed immensely to the Indian agriculture sector, fast becoming an important contributor in other industrial sectors as well.
Those in attendance also got to know more about Punjab, via a grand 20-minute theatrical tribute to its rich heritage and legacy - from the victory over Mughals to the creation and celebration of Punjabi Suba. This was followed by performances by legendary superstars from Punjab - Gurdas Mann and Jaspinder Narula. A customized light and sound show with laser and fireworks created the grand finale act of the event that had more than 300 performers and dancers, participating in this grand celebration.
While all the ideation and conceptualization was done internally by Wizcraft team, a few regular partners were called in for the event as well. The entire event was set-up under the close supervision of Wizcraft technical team and the partners for the event were:
Modern Stage Services – Lighting, Sound, Trussing, Projectors for 3D Mapping and LED

Talking about his experience of working at the event, Pratik Wadhwa- Owner, Modern Stage Services shares, "The Punjab Golden Jubilee Celebrations was one of the most challenging projects that we have worked on given the fact that we only had a turn around time of 4 days. The event was massive stunner and we are proud to have been a part of it."

Vibhore Khandelwal, Director- Creative Factory comments, "The brief we received from team Wicraft was to showcase the history of Punjab in the most entertaining manner possible. Besides the performances of Gurdas Mann and Jaspinder Narula, the event also had a play where a building was to play the narrator of not just the history of Punjab but also highlight the current state and what the future holds for it. The project was challenging as we had to create an hour long content for the overall event in just two and a half weeks. For the mapping content we used the opposite bulding from the Town Hall Complex by intsallting two facades to create the most immersive 270 degree mapping experience."

Yogesh Chaudhary, Owner- Laser Vibgyor who managed the sky projection at the event said, “I must admit that in my 16 years of experience in the industry I have never worked before on such an informative project. The event was of a certain magnitude and the fact that it all came together so beautifully on the end day speaks a lot about the hard work of all those involved on the project.”

Surbhi Garg, BD Executive from Natura commented, “The event was a humongous challenge to say the least as we were working in the middle of the city in one of the oldest buildings, rigging 6 screens at the height of 60 ft. The task at hand was something we had never done before but owing to our expertise we managed to bring value to the event which was a magnanimous success.”

The event featured a larger than life set-up that boasted over 13,000 sq. ft. of 3D mapping content that was especially created for the celebrations.
