GESIA, the apex body of the ICT Industry in Gujarat, organised the GESIA Annual Awards for Excellence in the field of Information and Communication Technology in the vibrant state of Gujarat, on September 29 at YMCA International Centre in Ahmedabad. The theme of this edition was “It’s all about business”. The event was managed by Zion Unlimited for the 5th time. Yet again, the team pulled off a winner.
In its 9th edition, the GESIA Annual Awards donned a new look. In its new avatar which included a new GESIA logo, the prestigious ceremony awarded excellence across ten award categories. This year’s edition saw highest ever participation from the ICT Industry in Gujarat.
The Lead Partner of GESIA Awards 2016 was Hewlett Packard Enterprise Ingram Micra. The knowledge partner PWC ensured the entire jury process was transparent and even more member-engaging.
What made this year’s edition all the more special was that the GESIA Annual Awards coincided with The NASSCOM Executive Committee Meet being held in Ahmedabad. Chairman NASSCOM and MD & CEO, Tech Mahindra, C. P. Gurnani addressed the gathering and spoke about how India was already being viewed as a world leader in the ICT sector. The Chief Guest of the evening was J.N. Singh, Chief Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. He also addressed the gathering.
Vivek Ogra, Chairman, GESIA IT Association, rendered the Welcome Address, his popularity evident by the thunderous applause he elicited from the audience. GESIA’s new website was also officially launched on this occasion. The awards moved swiftly as they recognised the winners with a new GESIA trophy and the finalists with certificates. The Veteran Recognition Awards were presented by Maulik Bhansali, Vice-Chairman & Director, GESAI and harat Patel, Joint Secretary and Director, GESIA IT Association.
With Navratri round the corner, how could we not have had Garba! We would have lost our captive audience, had we provided them with Dandiya sticks. For once, I was glad that the performance was not an interactive one. So captivating is the magic of Garba in Gujarat. The audience could not have enough of Adarsh Aathi, a Mentalist, who dazzled them with his unique display, one of the best efforts I have seen this year on the live circuit in India. Aathi is a mentalist and a researcher in Behavioral Psychology, from Kerala, India.
The evening ended on a high with the Board Members of GESIA and the winners coming together for a boisterous photograph on stage. As Official Host, this was my third stint at The GESIA Awards. And something tells me, I will be back for more. I think it has something to do with G for GESIA and G for Gitikka! Until next time!
With theme ‘It’s all about business’, the event took place at YMCA International Centre in Ahmedabad. Managed by Zion Unlimited, the Awards also witnessed mentalist Adarsh Aathi perform.
