Talking to EVENTFAQS about Abu Dhabi’s market for events and conferences, David Lance, General Manager at Marriott Hotel & Marriott Executive Apartments Downtown Abu Dhabi said, “Abu Dhabi is a diverse, growing city with strong tourism potential to emerge as a popular business and tourist hub in the region. Abu Dhabi posted strong results in the MICE ranking index last year. According to the annual ranking by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), it jumped 35 places to 73rd position – the only city in the region to advance in the overall ranking.”
Presenting a completely new hotel experience for today's modern traveller, the 5 star Marriott Hotel Downtown Abu Dhabi is an exciting new travel destination that exhilarates the mind through a marriage of sophisticated design and innovative functionality. 315 spacious guest rooms and suites feature modern amenities and smart technologies throughout while the hotel’s extensive meeting space is tailored to today’s meeting requirements. Supplemented by unique dining and wellness options, the hotel is set to become a local hub for business and leisure as well as a global MICE destination.
On what the two venues offer Indian MICE travellers and groups, Lance added, “India is a key feeder market for Abu Dhabi, which anticipates a 20% rise in Indian tourist arrivals in 2016 according to the Press Trust of India. This increase has been helped by the Etihad-Jet alliance which directly connects 14 Indian cities to Abu Dhabi. Marriott Hotel Downtown Abu Dhabi offers a very strong MICE offering. Within the first month of opening, the hotel has proven its attractiveness to the Indian MICE travelers, being the host hotel for the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) in October.”
Marriott Downtown Abu Dhabi is set to become a five-star dining destination in Abu Dhabi providing guests with a variety of dining experiences. Inspired by the community and headed up by expert chefs, the concepts are unique to the city. Restaurants, cafes and bars include JW Steakhouse, Kuzbara, Central Grounds, and Velocity. The hotel also provides a range of wellness options for travellers with the Saray Spa & Health Club offering six individual treatment rooms.
"At Marriott Hotels, everything we do is guided by our belief that travel expands the mind and triggers new and creative ways of thinking", said Lance. "We want to push the boundaries of innovation with a combination of high tech and high touch services to connect with our guests and create an environment that inspires."
