Canon wanted to launch one of the most powerful and sought after cameras this season, EOS5D Mark 4. The task for planning the launch event was given to CS Direkt, where the brief was simple: the client wanted a grand event and a stage that would interest their audiences and capture their memories forever.

CS Direkt took up the task and worked towards a design that would awe the client. The main attraction of the launch was the stage, with an exciting, new and innovative design with a frame and a turn table setup. The final setup gave the audience the feeling of being in a top level hi-tech zone with a beautiful and delicate yet powerful work of art.

CS Direkt also took up the task of designing the rest of the stage to give it a finishing touch depicting the various genres of photos framed for audience viewing such as fashion, weddings, nature and wildlife, etc. The main-stage was inspired by the beautiful Peacock, a bird with most unique plume of feathers which becomes a work of art when spread out, showing off the vibrant colours and minute design details.

The launch invite list included the Canon top management team - Kazutada Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon India and Andrew Koh, Vice President, Canon India along with two world renowned and eminent photographers –Michael Brown, a celebrated National Geographic photographer and Andrew Buccholz, a commercial and fashion photographer.

The sequence of events for the launch opened with Kobayashi and Koh entering the grand stage and introducing the first segment by inviting the esteemed guests to experience technology and the power of photography through the 4th generation model of Canon’s full-frame EOS camera. The audience was excited to find out more and the event turned into a story-telling route to discovering the many aspects of the camera through the stories shared by the management team, Michael Brown and Andrew Buchholz of their personal experiences.

The second segment of the launch sequence highlighted the range of features of the camera. For the same, three experiential zones were created to give audiences a touch of realistic photography and a demonstration of how to use the device. All the zones had different types of exciting activities. The fist zone had a wedding setting with models dressed as bridal couples; the second zone was a sized down model of a race track which had battery operated cars to showcase the power of capturing images when they move; and the third zone had photographs depicting various aspects of nature, wildlife, fashion and weddings captured by the two guests of honour – Michael Brown and Andrew Buccholz.

Anjali Pasricha, Director, CSDirekt shared her views on the launch saying, ‘The excitement created at the launch is memorable and I am very proud of our team at CSD, specially the efforts put in from design to production. The true essence of this launch was bringing out the main features of the camera and putting together a show that would mesmerize audiences. We did face challenges while setting up. As usual Team CSD came through all the difficulties. Our client went back extremely happy.’
