AGP World Produces Comedy Show ‘Jason Byrne is Propped Up’ in 3 Cities

Entertainment production company AGP World recently brought down Irish comedian Jason Byrne for his first India tour, where he presented his new act ‘Jason Byrne is Propped Up’. Prior to the events for the public, AGP World staged two exclusive experiences, one at Sofitel Mumbai on September 14 and the other at Trident, Gurgaon on September 15 for its corporate clients, HNW families, as part of a collaboration between the hotel and AGP World.
‘Jason Byrne is Propped Up’ is a completely original production, high on audience interaction and the use of a variety of props. “Both shows were well received and as I would put forth ‘it rocked’”, remarked an elated Ashvin D. Gidwani, Producer & M.D, AGP World.
Jason Byrne then performed for the public at the MLR Convention Centre, Bengaluru on September 16; at NCPA in Mumbai on September 17; and at Kamani Delhi on September 18. Gidwani added, “As producers, we have met with astounding success and Jason is a brilliant comedian with a mix of improv and interactive performance”.
Ashvin Gidwani is probably the best person to talk to about India’s market for theatre and live comedy acts, with AGP World having produced and conceptualised some of the greatest theatrical productions and experiences in the country in the last two decades, including more recently History of India - Viritten, Battle of DASexes & Walking on Broken Das, among others.
On the market in India for international stand-up comedians to perform, he said, “Most international acts are either too expensive or very inexpensive so they are performed in stadiums or in clubs. Being theatre producers we customise, script, develop & direct the content for a paying audience in theatres. This is something not many can do. We will grow it over the next five years, and since we have a base in other cities like Singapore, Sydney, Dubai & Johannesburg, we plan to tour the shows we produce / promote which gives us greater bandwidth beyond our shores.”
AGP World’s forthcoming production in the stand-up space is Mancepation, while it also already has plans for the next series of Jason Byrne in India.
Following two exclusive experiences at Sofitel Mumbai and Trident, Gurgaon, Jason Byrne’s first tour in India included performances in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.
