Viacom18 wanted to host their annual Media Change Leaders Conference in Bhutan and the mandate to manage the entire conference as well as the hospitality of the participants was handed over to Tamarind Global.

120 guests from various hubs first gathered at the Hyatt Regency, Kolkata, where they enjoyed local delicacies and entertainment provided by a local band. From here they were transported to the land of monasteries, mountains and mystery – Bhutan. The conference was spread between Hyatt Regency Kolkata, Le Meridien Paro and Taj Tashi, Thimpu, the latter being the final destination.

The group flew on Bhutan Airways and from the time they took off the experience unraveled. Tamarind had organized Viacom18 branding on all headrests in the aircraft which flew the guest from Kolkata to Paroalong with a customized magazine created by the Tamarind team, which was placed on all seats.

The highlight was the captain personally welcoming the entire Viacom18 team on-board the flight and thanking them for organizing their conference in Bhutan.

On arrival, Tamarind had organized a sightseeing tour of Paro, visits to the Dzongs Monastery and Market place, followed by a sumptuous Bhutanese cuisine buffet lunch at Le MeridienParo for all the participants. Le Meridien proved to be an idyllic lunch setting with an open terrace surrounded by magnificent mountains on all sides and a beautiful stream flowing across the property. Post a leisurely lunch the guests tried their hand at Kite Flying.

The conference, which commenced on the following day, was flawlessly put together integrating the rich and abundant local Bhutanese tradition. Keeping in mind the culturally enthralling destination, the idea was to have a conference with taste of culture, which reflected in the local décor elements and theme. The guests were awed by the detailed stage designs and transformed ballroom setting. The relaxing tea and snack breaks were organized in the hotel courtyard, which housed a breathtaking view of the Himalayan range.

Entertainment after the conference included local artist and versatile singer, Sangay as well as the band, Flying Kik. Local photographers and videographers were hired to capture the conference and its beautiful backdrop.

Food included a diverse mix of Bengali, Bhutanese, International, Thai and India cuisine.

To unwind from the conference, Tamarind had also organized a party at a local pub not far from the hotel. Since Bhutan is known universally as THE place of happiness, the celebration was themed “Happy Party” with positive and cheerful décor elements.

Tamarind organized the entire event on a turnkey basis encompassing hospitality and guest relations, logistics and event production, making sure there were no stones left unturned to ensure a wonderful experience for the entire esteemed Viacom18 group.
