Glenfiddich Introduces Virtual Reality Distillery Tours @ its Experiential Events Worldwide

The world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, Glenfiddich has taken event experience up a notch by opening their doors to Virtual Reality (VR) technology. India got a taste of this immersive experience recently, during the exclusive launch event of Glenfiddich India's “The Mavericks” show on NDTV Good Times, at The Westin Gurgaon on Aug 31. The VR film will travel the world for Glenfiddich’s experiential launch and tasting events. It is also available online, featured across social channels utilising the updated VR functionality on YouTube and Facebook.
Guest hitch a ride on a 360 degree journey starting with a bird's eye view of Scotland’s Speyside countryside and then through the Glenfiddich Dufftown distillery, sliding past steaming copper pot stills, fermenters, and thousands of casks in the warehouse. The tour is hosted by a Scottish guide, along with a couple of appearances from the iconic Glenfiddich stag.

The VR experience called “Journey into the Mind of the Malt Master” was developed by UK based creative agency ‘Space’. About the behind-the-scenes tech used to develop the film, the agency’s website states; “Mixing high end production techniques including photo-real 3D CGI, drone footage shot with cutting edge image stabilisation tools and live action tracking camera shots composited into a CG environment: the VR project was filmed by Space in collaboration with production company Happy Finish at the Dufftown distillery, in the surrounding countryside and a bespoke 360 green screen studio to allow for the precise choreography of the highly technical shoot.”
A statement from Glenfiddich's Global Brand Marketing Manager, Ifan Jenkins, says; “Glenfiddich as the single malt Scotch whisky that created the category as we know it today is renowned for pushing the boundaries of whisky convention and this distillery tour continues that rich vein of innovation. Using cutting edge VR technology allows us to immerse whisky drinkers from all over the world in the Glenfiddich story and our Dufftown home to create a truly memorable experience and showcases how we’ve mastered the art of whisky making.”
‘The MAVERICKS’, presented by Glenfiddich in association with NDTV Good Times, is a three-part series hosted by actor Rahul Khanna. Begining September 3, at 10.00pm on NDTV Good Times, the show brings to life the story of the maverick whisky makers of the Dufftown, from the Scottish Highlands. This is where Glenfiddich got its name from. Rahul takes the viewers through the journey of the William Grant and Gordon family into making Glenfiddich as the world's finest whisky.
