Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (L.A. Tourism), the official tourism marketing organization for Los Angeles, recently announced that the company will establish a presence in India with representation by Sartha Global Marketing. The agency will closely work with the L.A. Tourism team to expand the destination product, foster relationships with travel trade and MICE partners and initiate L.A. focused promotions with airline partners in India. The team will also assist with public relations efforts on an as-need basis.
On this development, Ernest Wooden Jr., President & CEO of L.A. Tourism, said, “India is the second fastest growing market for outbound travel and we are pleased to increase our efforts in this key region with Sartha Global Marketing. We look forward to welcoming more Indian travellers to L.A. which will help us achieve our goal of reaching 50 million visitors by 2020.”
The tourism board's official release stated that in 2014, 92,000 Indian travellers visited L.A., accounting for approximately $73 million in direct spending. With double-digit visitation growth in 2013 and 2014 and positive economic growth forecasted, the new representation will help Los Angeles tap into India’s tremendous tourism potential.
Sheema Vohra, Managing Director, Sartha Global Marketing added, “Los Angeles is such a fantastic addition to our portfolio. It’s an iconic travel destination with excellent weather, a newsworthy food scene, world-class attractions and shopping – all of which are highly attractive to visitors and MICE buyers from India.”
