Up On The Stage Launches ABP Asmita News Channel in Gujarat

ABP News Network has an array of news channels within the brand, namely ABP News, ABP Majha and ABP Ananda. The media group recently hosted a launch party to commemorate the addition of their newest member to the ANN Clan - ‘ABP Asmita’, a 24/7 Gujarati news channel that aims at delivering fresh engaging content.

‘Up On The Stage’ (UOTS) was appointed to conceptualise and execute the launch event on February 18 at the Hotel Crowne Plaza, Ahmedabad. The idea was to create an experiential event showcasing and maintaining the presence of ABP News Network’s youngest channel, ‘ABP Asmita’.  The team of UOTS successfully transformed the venue, giving it a classy yet traditional look and feel, and also infusing technology in the setup.

Giving his view on the set up, Ashish Benjamin, Director, UOTS said, “Right from the hotel entry, we had large in lit elements with the ‘ABP Asmita’ logo defining the pathway leading up to the drop off point. Inside the event area lobby, hostesses dressed in traditional Gujarati sarees, welcomed guests with a tika and a silk 'bandhani' stole. An area was dedicated to the achievers of Gujarat; having their photo frames displayed on the wall of fame made up of ‘bandhani’ material. The pre-function area had large walls which were covered in traditional fabrics. LED screen appearing like their news channel ‘ABP Asmita’, had welcome messages displayed with the Asmita logo, and the live feed of the event. Inside the ballroom, the area was divided into two parts; one having the grand stage setup and the other having a large dance floor having a ceiling of 30’ x 30’ of exquisitely beautiful and colourful hand embroidered fabric umbrellas which were hung upside down. Similarly, we had fabric branding panels throughout the venue, showcasing the Gujarat map and ‘ABP Asmita’ logo.”

 The occasion was graced by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel sharing her warm and positive thoughts on ABP Asmita news channel, along with the presence of a niche audience comprising of top 100 CEO’s of various leading industries in Gujarat and the ABP News Network affiliates. Also present at the event were - Aveek Sarkar, Chairman of ANN Group; Shankersinh Vaghela, Opposition Leader in Gujarat, and Ashok Venkatramani, CEO of ANN Group.

This was followed by the launch of the ‘ABP Asmita’ brand film and AV by Venkatramani. The evening further had powerful traditional performances by local artists keeping it authentic to the theme.

In terms of challenges, Benjamin said, “Having faced challenges like setup time restriction to 15 hours, the event venue had to be handed over to the television team for prep work for the live telecast, as well as a selection of traditional folk dance performances on stage to be rehearsed for the show as per the network guidelines, the team of ‘Up On The Stage’ (UOTS) did a fabulous job in the overall execution with no glitches in production and handed the venue on time for the show.”
