The Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Odisha, in a bid to attract domestic tourists from Mumbai, organised a roadshow in the city yesterday. This is part of 10 other such roadshows planned across the country. With the objective to promote Orissa and its tourism products, the roadshow disseminated information on Odisha Tourism to tour operators, travel agents, travel writers, journalists, travellers and other relevant parties.
The DoT is also organising a number of tourism events like the Konark Festival (Dec 1 – 5), the International Sand Art Festival (Dec 1– 5), Parab Tribal Festival (Nov 16 – 18), Dhanu Yatra Festival (Dec – Jan), Rajarani Music Festival (Jan 18 – 20), and Mukteswar Dance Festival (Jan 14 – 16) to attract domestic and international tourists.
A progressive and investment friendly tourism policy has been in operation since April 2013, whereby a State Level Single Window Committee has been created for speedy implementation of projects. Several incentives have been announced for tourism stakeholders as part of promotional initiatives. In August last year, a Sound & Light Show (SEL) was started at Dhauli, which will also be organised in Konark and Khandagiri-Udayagiri.
The Mumbai roadshow comes as part of Odisha Department of Tourism’s effort to promote domestic tourism in the state.
