The Start-up India launch event took place on January 16 at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This launch event aimed at celebrating the entrepreneurship spirit of the country’s youth and was attended by CEOs and founders of top startups (over 1500) from across the country. The closing session was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who formally launched the initiative and unveiled the startup Action Plan.
Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley was also present to inaugurate the event, where the minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman, was the Guest of Honour.
The event featured day-long global workshop on startup entrepreneurship and panel discussions on topics related to Start-ups in India.
Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) led by Secretary Amitabh Kant, was the organizer of this event. Invest India, NASSCOM, SheThePeople.tv, iSpirt, YourStory and Kairos Society and youth wings of FICCI and CII, are also involved in the initiative and this launch event. CII partnered Showtime Events to conceptualise and execute this technology-heavy showcase of opportunities identified under the Start-up India initiative.
