As a start to a series of several work, chill and play spaces, the first ever MTV themed café ‘FLYP @ MTV’, was launched in Connaught Place, New Delhi on Dec. 10 and 11. Taking the concept of the cafe into consideration, the launch event conceptualised and executed by Brandwidth Events for Viacom18, was split into two days. The first day highlighted the ‘work’ and ‘chill’ aspect of the space, with ‘play’ being the notion for the second day.
Chill day at the café was an engaging action packed day. Groups of people belonging to various fields were invited to give their expert opinions. One of Indias top leading mixologist, Nititn Tewari’s concoctions for the day not only complimented the ‘flyped’ food menu, but were also an exceptional hit with the crowd. The evening progressed with a food workshop conducted by Chef Ranveer Brar, which left everyone craving for more. The highlight was the succulent mouth-watering Lucknawi kebabs prepared by him. Daniel Kenneth Rego on strings and Hamza Kazi on percussion demonstrated another chill quotient, steaming up the guests to get into the groove. Comedian Sanjay Rajour tickled the funny bone in all. The night came to a close with the resident DJ and all the bartenders exhibiting what Chilling at FLYP@MTV truly means. To thank everyone for being a part of a rocking evening, all the guests were given a glass jar with a free cocktail coupon that could be redeemed at their next visit to the café.
The fun overflowed into the next day with the grand launch party. Keeping the quirky and edgy side of MTV in mind, Brandwidth came up with some playful and amusing elements to add to the excitement of the launch. “Our aim was to create an event that would allow guests to experience the various features of the café, along with making its MTV signature prominent…” said Pranav Kumar, Senior Manager – Client Servicing, Brandwidth. The guests were given a red carpet entrance with the paparazzi clicking away and making them feel like superstars. The signature MTV astronaut was floating between the crowds. ‘Spin the wheel’, a drinking game was set up next to the bar. It incorporated some offbeat rules like waterfall where all the guests in a circle had to start drinking at once and could not stop till the person before them put down their drink. Brandwidth fabricated a customised arm chair with a person camouflaged into it and placed it in an isolated section of the cafe. Guests were spotted sitting on the chair and being flabbergasted when hugged by the chair out of the blue.
To promote the shower area at the café, topless male models in towels, slippers and wet hair were seen posing as if they’d just stepped out of the FLYP shower rooms. To add to all the interesting elements, Brandwidth set up a Flip book booth. Besides being fun, the flip books were a great keepsake for the guests to always cherish their FLYP moment. Celebrities like Sunny Leone, Neha Dhupia, Ranvijay, Gauhar Khan and Gautam Gulati were all present at the big bash. The highlight of the evening was the performance by Amit Trivedi. He captivated the crowd with his enthralling voice and songs. With Anushka Dandekar as the MC and DJ Kammath on the console, the night ended on a spectacular high.
