Reliance Jio Employee Launch Makes History; Features World’s Largest Digital Town Hall

The employee launch of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) was held at the Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai on the eve of the group’s Founder Chairman Dhirubhai Ambani’s 83rd birth anniversary. The event saw many a firsts, including the world’s largest digital town hall made possible by a mammoth digital convergence of Reliance employees, partners, and consumers across India.
The Jio launch held on Dec 27, 2015 saw the Ambani family in attendance, as well as big names from the entertainment industry performing on stage. The event had an auspicious beginning with Nita Ambani, RIL Board Member and wife of Chairman & MD Mukesh Ambani, performing the Ganesh Vandana. Jio Brand Ambassador and Master of Ceremonies, Shah Rukh Khan, performed for the massive audience, followed by Oscar-winning Music Director A R Rehman. Later, the Ambani twins Isha and Akash took the stage and spoke about Jio and the promised Digital Life. Mukesh Ambani joined SRK on stage to engage in a dialogue demonstration of LYF handsets and other Jio products. He also interacted with Reliance employees across the country via two-way conferencing and sent out motivational messages.

One of the largest host of employees, partners, and consumers
Never before has corporate India seen an employee launch of such scale. Reliance has thrown open the Jio services to all its business partners, and its entire force of employees plus their families, across India. This optimal use of human resources by RIL ensure that the last and the slightest wrinkle would be smoothed out to perfection before Jio launches its all-India commercial services.
Digital convergence of geography, culture, and all employee levels
The event echoed the corporate’s motto of - One India. One RIL. One Jio. Every employee of RIL, its group companies, Jio and its partners were simultaneously initiated into the Jio Digital Life. This totaled to more than one lakh, spread across various locations and geographies.
Old Reliance joins hands with new Reliance
The traditional projects and production powerhouse (B2B), joined hands with the the consumer-facing business of retail and digital services to celebrate the launch. This elevates all of RIL’s businesses together onto a common digital platform.
World largest Digital Town Hall with 35K live and 80K digital audiences
35000 Reliance employees and their families were physically present at the venue during the event, while 80000 more were tuned-in from 1000+ locations across India, and one in Dallas, Texas in the USA. Two-way conferencing, run on the Jio network, was used for Mukesh Ambani to interact with his employees joining the launch event, digitally.
RJIL, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is setting up an entire digital ecosystem with stated goal to break the digital divide in India and propel the country into global leadership of the digital economy. The ecosystem consists of pan-India high speed data network, specially designed devices to run on this network and a wide variety of apps. Jio has created a legacy free, next-generation voice and broadband network which can be seamlessly upgraded even to 5G and beyond. It will provide next generation digital services over an end-to-end all-IP network.
