The annual Gala Awards presented by US based Special Events Magazine celebrates outstanding events held across the globe and is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. This year’s winners will be announced at ‘The Special Event’ to be held at Orlando, Florida on Jan 14, 2016. Securing a nomination for the 4th time in a row, Showtime is the only Indian agency to be featured in the list of nominations for this year’s Gala Awards. Previously, the agency has won a Gala in 2012 for its BMW Xperience event.
Showtime is one among the three nominees for the category - Best Event Produced For a Corporation Or Association: Overall Budget Above $500,000. The agency’s ‘Launch of the New MINI: New Original’ event is competing against "The Grand Opening of Downtown Summerlin" by Extraordinary Events from Sherman Oaks, California and "International Media Launch 2015 of BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer" by Hagen Invent and Co. from Dusseldorf, Germany.
Showtime’s launch event for the BMW MINI was held at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios in Nov 2014, with about 800 guests including Bollywood stars, corporate heads, media and key customers. Featuring a mash-up of the 1960s vibe and modern day elements, the launch had a 30 x 20 foot LED mesh for the stage backdrop. The main stage was flanked by two kinetic LED-lined three dimensional towers with 32 boxes for dancers. A specially rigged platform was also constructed to present the car, which descended from a height of about 50 feet.
Commenting on the nomination, a Showtime spokesperson said, “Gala Awards is regarded as the Oscars of the event industry worldwide and to get a nomination at these awards is nothing short of a supreme honor, partly because there are no award categories out here, only a Gold Standard. The three nominations in a particular category represent the top three events in the world.”
The Gala Awards 2016 has received entries from ten countries including the USA, Germany, Canada, Ireland, the UK, China and India. The competition is open to events that have taken place between Sept 1, 2014, and Aug 31, 2015.
Securing a nomination for the 4th time in a row, Showtime is the only Indian agency that has made it to the Gala Awards, this year.
