Vodafone rolled out a Diwali retail and slum activation on Nov 3, as a Diwali gratification and CSR initiative in 5 zones in Mumbai – South, Andheri, Malad, Thane and Vashi. This activity, managed by All In Events, covered 1000 stores and 10 slums in the span of 8 days.
The goal of the activation was to reach out to existing retail stores in Mumbai and create the feel of a Diwali Festival in the marketplace, generate hype about the brand, and also establish a deeper connect with retailers as well as slum dwellers.
The activation saw 4 Vodafone branded vans visit slums and retail stores in these 5 zones. The team visiting the stores gratified retailers with Tilak, greetings from Vodafone, a box of sweets, and a customised branded lantern that was installed by an electrician at every store. A separate team visited the slums, installed these Vodafone lanterns and applied Rangoli to create a festive spirit. Sweets were distributed, while a Dholwala was present to create hype and capture maximum eyeballs.
Talking about this on-ground activation, Jolly Desai, CMO, All In Events said, “The brief given to us was simple. Our main objective was to lighten the mood of the retailers and paint the city red on the occasion of Diwali. Though the given timelines were very short, our execution team skilfully pulled off the activity. The activation also involved visiting slums and celebrating the festival with residents here, a big leap from the first part of the activation. Conducting these activities helped to spread smiles and joy among the underprivileged, creating an experience they can cherish. It was a great experience working with team Vodafone.”
Managed by All In Events, the 8-day activation was organised in 5 zones in Mumbai, and covered 1000 stores and 10 slums.
