Swachh Bharat Abhiyan skill development

SKILLS 2015, an international conference on “Life Skills and Livelihood Skills – for achieving and sustaining a Clean India" concluded at ni-msme Centre, Hyderabad on Nov 20, 2015. The 2 day conference attracted a host of VIPs and dignitaries, policy makers, government officials, educators, business executives and training professionals from around the world, visiting and deliberating at the event.

The speakers exchanged ideas and discussed initiatives on the sanitation to provide practical inputs to make Swach Bharat Campaign a success and take it to all parts of rural and urban India. The valedictory ceremony saw special addresses by RCM Reddy (Managing Director & CEO- IL&FS Education & Technology, India), Dr. Ravi K Reddy (Secretary, REEDS, India), Ramesh Katta (President - Abburu Gram Panchayat, Guntur District, India), and other dignitaries.

Speaking at a session, Jack Sim, the founder of World Toilet Organization (WTO) stressed on the need for a holistic approach to address hygiene and sanitation issues in India, including lack of household toilets in rural India.

SKILLS 2015 has received a tremendous response and strongly communicated the importance of Skill development in achieving clean India. The event addressed several dimensions of skill development related to sanitation and hygiene and served as the platform for a dialogue on “Clean India”.  It helped in preparing a road map to achieving Clean India by creating opportunities by imparting life and livelihood skills to the citizens of India.

Ravi Reddy, who was also the conference co-chairman said, “We are very happy with the participation and the deliberations at SKILLS 2015. It was a platform to discuss and provide the relevant skills, technologies and best practices necessary to achieve the Clean India campaign. The conference discussed various issues and challenges regarding making “Swachh Bharat” a reality. We will be submitting a summary of the outcome of these deliberations to the Government to take it forward. We thank the speakers, delegates and the participants for the overwhelming response to SKILLS 2015.”

The 2-day international conference saw a host of VIPs and dignitaries addressing and exchanging ideas on making the Swachh Bharat Campaign a success.
