destination wedding Q Events Mehendi

Although Mehendis are considered a women centric event, the men at this one did not feel left out. Inspired by the colours of Rajasthan and the destinations beautiful baazars, A New Knot planned and designed this fun and interactive Mehendi.

Picking from the Gujrati origins of the couple, they had a kite flying event set up at the venue to keep the men entertained! Interestingly, kites were also incorporated as a design element.

A fairytale setting was created under the canopy of a Guava orchid, set on the bank of Lake Pichola.  The Guava Gardens & Croque Lawns at The Leela Palace, Udaipur was indeed the apt venue for this event. The décor was executed by Q Events by Geeta Samuel.

The Rajasthani Vibe

The venue resembled a Rajasthani Baazar, with numerous stalls offering local handicraft souvenirs for guests to browse through. Even the food menu for the Mehendi was designed in accordance with the street bazzar theme of the function. The entire menu comprised of street food from around the world.

Muted yellow cloth along with lehariya details was the base design used for all the structures.

To amplify the feel of Rajasthan, the agency used typical rajasthani motifs, like the parrot and the camels in the smaller details like décor hangings.

Speaking of the elements of design used at the event, Nitya Bagri, Director, A New Knot explains, “Keeping in mind the eclectic personalities of our clients we incorporated an underlining element of Pop Art in the details of the dance floor and the décor elements.”

A local cycle rickshaw was set up along the same festive lines and it also doubled up as a portable photo booth.

The Innovative Entertainment

In addition to the mehendi artists, the other entertainment was picked in accordance with the Rajasthani theme of the function. Typical Rajasthani singers welcomed the guests as soon as they entered the venue. A Parrot tarot card reader and a Caricature artist were also present.

A Rajasthani Langa Dancer troop was roped in to dance along with the guests. Guests were seen learning the dance and performing with the pots on their heads.

Inspired by the colours of Rajasthan and the destination's beautiful baazars, the agency planned and designed this fun and interactive Mehendi.
