Electronic dance music showcase Reset will return to Hyderabad on October 31. Conceptualised by artist management agency UnMute and event specialists Phoenix Live, the property marks its third date with the city and features Indian producers and DJs like Arjun Vagale, Kohra, BLOT!, Nikhil Chinapa and more. Reset is a travelling showcase, with a Funktion One sound system in tow, covering six cities. While the Bangalore and Pune editions have already taken place on Sep. 19 and Oct 3, respectively, in addition to the Hyderabad event at the end of the month, Reset is set to take place in Delhi on Dec 5, in Mumbai in Jan 2016, and finally in Chennai in February 2016. Both, the Bangalore and Pune events saw more than 2,000 people attend (around 1300+ for the main event and 700+ for the after party).
Conceptualised as a continuous series of showcases in venues that offer fans an immersive music experience, Reset celebrates domestic talent and seeks to introduce fans to the sounds and skills of some of India’s best techno DJs and producers alongside upcoming talent.
Sponsors and partners include Snapdeal, VH1, Red FM, and PVR, while the organisers are also in talks with a couple of brands for long terms associations.
On the development of the property in its second year, Dev Bhatia, Artist Manager and Director, UnMute says, “Reset has always been about the music and the experience. And now, in its second year, the team is working towards breaking our own rules about sound, design, line-ups and visuals – in a good way. We set the trend in the indigenous electronic music scene, and now we are taking it upon ourselves to do the same for Indian talent-led events. Everyone from our design crew to our production and even our DJs work together closely to ensure every Reset is better than the last one.”
Bharath Varma, Managing Director, Phoenix Live adds, “ We knew after last year’s success that we had to up our ante so this year we are taking Reset to new audiences in new cities and setting new standards in sound, design, line-ups, visuals all packaged with an outdoor vibe. When we started RESET we wanted to give people something they did not anticipate, which is our forte, so to culminate Reset 2015-16, we are planning something particular that people will not expect and it will certainly catch their fancy. As always, the Funktion One sound system will ensure that this is not just another gig.”
On the upcoming Hyderabad event, Arjun Vagale, Director, UnMute and techno DJ and producer said, “This year we are taking things up several notches and truly working on unique concepts that we hope will set a new benchmark for the underground movement in our country. Hyderabad is the spiritual home for Reset, so we had to do something special. Being Halloween, we are going all out with the production, and this will be the biggest and baddest Halloween party the country has ever seen.”
Remarking on the growth of the property, Varma says, “I think the growth has been phenomenal considering it is a brand promoting underground dance music. This is just the second year, so we are still at a nascent stage and there is a lot to be done. Having said that, I think the response has already been overwhelming. The number of people who attended Reset Bangalore and Pune has more than doubled which is a testament that we are doing things right.”
