Hero ISL 2015 got off to an exciting start with a grand opening ceremony managed by Showtime Group. Apart from the expected fireworks display, the crowd at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as Marina Arena, was treated to entertaining performances by several movies stars including Aishwarya Rai and Alia Bhatt. Indian movie legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were also present at the occasion. The national anthem at the ceremony was rendered by Oscar winning musician A R Rahman.

A circular flag for each team was unfurled over the field, alongside a giant ISL flag placed in the centre.

Rajinikant greeted the crowd as he took a lap around the ground and then on to the stage. Sachin Tendulkar also joined him later.
