The launch of VERO MODA Marquee – F/W ’15 Collection designed by Kangana Ranaut took place on Sept. 30 at Mehboob Studio. The evening beheld a grand fashion showcase followed by an after party. The collection was presented on the runway with Kangana Ranaut as the collection designer and supermodel Ujjwala Raut as the show opener.

Toast Events conceptualised, executed and managed the evening end-to-end. Creating a completely different experience from last year, the show had models walking to live music performed by the legendary pop-rock music band ‘The Other People’. The band also released a new single composed specially for the launch of the brand’s new collection.

Considering the essence of the collection, the set was created with a larger than life experience in black and gold. Presenting an international look, a low height glitter ramp was created, showcasing the backdrop that comprised of mirror acrylic in an abstract design. Breaking the monotony of the set, an interesting-looking red door integrated in the backdrop was used as an entry for Kangana. The seating at the event too was created in a tier format giving the guests a great view of the collection.

Commenting on the event, Trishala Jailwala, Client Servicing Lead – Toast Events said, “We’ve been working with the brand over six years now and we aim to set a new benchmark every time. The planning for the event started well in advance to make sure that the minutest details of the event were considered and paid attention to. The entire team worked day and night at the venue.”

Talking about her fashion sensibilities, Kangana said, “My fashion philosophy is to follow my mood for the day and is about what makes me feel good. I’m not a follower of fashion trends, instead I make my own rules and this collection does exactly that. I’m happy that this collection is inspired by my very own personal style. Unlike most occasion wear which is very one-dimensional – we’ve tried to stay away from the traditional and explored different hues, silhouettes and textures.”

A starry evening with a desirable front row sported names like Richa Chaddha, Dino Morea, Ayan Mukerji, Prateik Babbar, Shazahn Padamsee, Ayesha Takia, Elli Avram, Tara Sharma, Madhoo, Nandita Mahtani and many others. Also seen at the event were Mahek Chahal, Suchitra Pillai, Himanshi Choudhry, Manasi Scott and Krishika Lulla.
