While all of us are set to welcome the upcoming season and the new trends it brings, we thought it would be a good idea to look back on the year gone by and ask some budding décor designers about which props were most in demand last season.

Here’s our round up of the 5 hottest props!

#1. Crystal chandeliers with florals

Neha Mehrotra, Director, Foreign Wedding Planners said, “One can add a classic-luxurious touch to any kind of a mundane decor or theme. Very basic décor can be transformed into a stylish, stunning look and feel with a few of these!”

“Florals on chandeliers were the hot demand all of last year. Especially for day weddings, if colour coordinated well, these floral wonders bring out that grace without being overbearing.”

#2. Blackboards/Signage

“They were used as entry boards, signage, wishing areas, bar menus and customised photo op props. They were a must have in every vintage themed event adding their special touch and taking you back to the golden days.” added Kaveri Vij, Director, Designer Events INC

Mehrotra also spoke about a huge demand to personalize events with wooden/blackboard/paper signage. “Good for all events these add the detailed style to events like no other element!” she added.

#3.   Birdcages:

With the vintage look being so in, these were most definitely a rage. Award winning décor designer, Devika Narain explains, “From using them at the wedding with flowers to filling them up with fairy lights, we did it all.”

“From hanging at entrances to being a part of the stage backdrop or the central element at a round table, decked up with flowers or simply illuminating with candles or bulbs, birdcages were seen in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes and never failed to add the sparkle any event needs.” Added Vij

#4 Tiffany/Wooden chairs

A must-have prop now for all weddings events. FYI: Banquet chairs are a passé. Mehrotra stated, “The look they bring to an event cannot be replicated with any other prop.”

#5. Wishing Wells

Guests write wishes for the couple on small tags given to them by the hosts and they put it in this well.  Pooja Gupta, Elusive Dreams said, “A wishing well can also be used as a champagne well by keeping champagne bottles in them."
