4000 Participate in SBI Pinkathon Guwahati 2015

Pinkathon Maximus MICE and Media Solutions SBI Horlicks

SBI Pinkathon 2015 powered by Women’s Horlicks and co-sponsored by NITS MIRZA, successfully completed its first edition run at Guwahati on Sept. 27. The all-women marathon, organized by Maximus MICE & Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd. under the aegis of United Sisters Foundation, is an initiative to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for women and issues like breast cancer & bone health. Over 4000 women across age groups and from different strata of the society participated in the multi-category (3 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km) run. Pinkathon 2015 will also be held at Ahmedabad on Oct. 25, Pune on Nov. 15, and Mumbai on Dec. 13.

Super-model/actor, fitness enthusiasts and Pinkathon founder Milind Soman flagged off the run. He was joined by renowned mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa and “Queen of the Elephants” fame & IUCN member Prabati Barua. Murthy and Magoo - CGM SBI, RJ Mandy from Red FM and Dr. Anoop Gogoi - Founder, NITS Mirza University were also present at the occasion to express their support to the cause. Winners of the timed run in each category were felicitated at a post run ceremony.

 

Apart from the opportunity to initiate a healthy lifestyle with the marathon, Pinkathon participants above 45 years of age will also be given a free mammogram, while those below 45 years are offered free bone density checks and medical examinations. Some noteworthy runners were groups of visually impaired and hearing impaired girls, mothers carrying infants just a few months old and a squad of cancer survivors. Participants as young as 6 - 8 months and as old as 70 - 80 years showed up for the event, from across Assam and neighbouring states like Meghalaya.

The all-women’s run, organized by Maximus MICE & Media Solutions, successfully concluded its first edition in Guwahati at Sonaram ground on Sept. 27.
