The first edition of the Kumaon Literary Festival (KLF) will be held on Oct. 23-25 in Dhanachuli and on Oct. 26-27 in Nainital.
At a curtain raiser event in New Delhi on Sept. 19 at the Taj Mahal Hotel, the festival saw the presence of Barkha Dutt (Chairperson, Kumaon Literary Festival), Rebecca Travares (Ed.D. Representative, UN Women Office for India, Bhutan, Maldives & Sri Lanka) and Natalie Daalder (Wife of HE Patrick Suckling, the Australian High Commissioner to India).
Speaking on the initiative, Sumant Batra, Founder, Kumaon Literary Festival said, "KLF is an offshoot of a larger vision. We want to make the place a cultural hub. We're doing a series of initiatives and a literary festival form a natural component of this whole architecture of the things we are developing there.”
Kumaon Literary Festival has further chalked out a number of social initiative programmes by partnering with organizations like UN Women, Australian High Commission and French Institute of India. With having well-known authors, cinema and media personalities, the organizers have also added off-beat programmes like 'A treak to Dhanachuli Village', at the festival.
A preview of the festival was held on Sept. 19 at the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi.
