WindMill Festival, an initiative by Tribe Asia, is pegged to be India’s first International Children’s Festival. The home city for the fest will be Bangalore in year one with a five-city prelude to be hosted in Chandigarh, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai.

The festival curation is segmented to accommodate three age zones: 0–3 called Infants & Toddlers, 4–7 called Little Explorers, 8–11. There are three more zones called the Preteens, Music Arena along with one for moms and dads. The fest will celebrate the Diwali week ending in Children’s Day in a truly global manner initiating India’s festival footprint in this segment.

A total of 35 exhibits, India’s largest petting zoo, a day care centre, play arenas, water play areas, robotics, art, skateboarding, parkour, a movie theatre, workshops by international athletes, celebrity moms, a dad & child garage where one can fish and barbecue, debates and discussions with Olympians and armed forces officers are a few of the highlights the festival promises.

The two-day fest will see expats, urban parents with their little ones, global names in the genre, Bollywood and sports moms with their kids arrive to explore a vivid and internationally curated experience. The festival is officially partnered by some of the fraternity’s biggest names in online parenting, kids broadcast and global kids brands. The fest will officially announce its curative line-ups by early September around Teacher’s Day.

Speaking about the fest, Swaroop Banerjee, Co-Founder - Tribe Asia and Festival Director - WindMill Festival said: “Between 2003 when EDM took birth in India and today there are 26 music festivals with a little over 2.6 million young people attending them in some form, nothing comes close for the urban child. I also happen to call Sydney my second home and honestly the equation is more balanced & the producer creates festivals for children with equal fervor & global largesse. WindMill Festival will be curated in a manner, which will ensure the urban 0–11 and their urban families have an outdoor destination that is curated as professionally as their music destination counterparts. At Tribe the idea is to create this festival franchise, grow it organically and collaborate with international and domestic partners to create the much-required noise in this genre.”
