Ronicka Kandhari

A pioneer and a trendsetter in the field of luxury wedding photography, who carries the goodwill of a veteran in the photography industry. Ronicka Kandhari is the only Indian, woman to be invited by the “Saudi Royal- King Al Saud Family” to photograph their spectacular Wedding in Riyadh.

With an experience of more than a decade, she has shot a mélange of weddings and events, spanning cultures and topographies all over the world. She has authored 20 limited edition published coffee table books. Her work has been showcased internationally, and has been featured in premier publications across the globe. Her style is a blend of fine art, candid and expressionism. Its where “wedding meets fashion”!

Like the masters of yore, she works on a limited-edition basis, undertaking only 10 to 12 weddings in a year which have included Bollywood actors Ritesh and Genelia Deshmukh, Amrita Arora and Shakeel, powerful politicians like Praful Patel, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Ramvilas Paswan and many industrialist and corporate houses like Airtel, Infosys, TVS, Vidanta, Punj Loyd, Rajnigadha, Hero Honda, Doorset etc.

Speaking of the evolving trends in the business, Ronicka Kandhari said, “The major shift in the wedding trend was back in the days I had started. Now it’s evolving very fast with every passing year adding variations like save the date, Coffee table books, Pre-Wedding, HD Films with Bollywood themed films etc.

But the very niche qand high-end clientele still prefer a low key and unobtrusive approach. Clients have definitely apportioned a good budget for photography now days due to awareness and need for good photographs.

Therefore, it is our responsibility to keep the respect and dignity by not lowering our standards or the photography charges. It’s imperative that all professionals should not lower their prices just to undercut one another as it eventually effects the fraternity.

Elaborating on restrictions and the ‘do's and dont's’ when a photographer is shooting a very high profile client's wedding or a celebrity's wedding, she said,"I have always had an unobtrusive and fly on the wall approach to photograph my all my esteemed clients on the day of the event. Personally I believe the best moments are usually captured if well observed. Once I have that connect with my clients I already know and predict the mood before its even there. I call that magical! Clients also prefer my style as I just observe and get my perfect moments without adding to the pressure on them, making it more challenging for myself as it keeps me on my toes and on high alert all the time."

Having worked on projects in locations like Riyadh, Phuket, Florence, Dubai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Goa amongst many others she explained  the important role that location plays in pre wedding/post wedding shoots, saying, “A beautiful destination definitely adds to making the weddings look king size. I have shot many weddings in Jaipur, Udaipur, Samode and Jodphur. The sheer grandeur these palaces provide is unmatched. They are Picture perfect backdrops of royalty, romance and luxury, needless to say the best choice for a Dream Wedding!"
