Godrej, Radio City and Club Mahindra sponsor the first ever CorpChef

The first edition of CorpChef, an inter-corporate cooking championship, took place at Phoenix MarketCity in Mumbai recently. It is the brainchild of Bhavna Mehta, Founder & Creative Director, Party Sharty and allowed employees to showcase their culinary skills, making it an innovative employee engagement activity.

Speaking about the idea behind the property, Bhavna Mehta, Founder & Creative Director, Party Sharty, said: “We wanted to do something exciting at an inter-corporate level and get them out of their daily routine which can get mundane. We realized that a lot of people are passionate about cooking and rarely get a chance to showcase their skills. The idea of CorpChef was thus born where teams could compete against each other in this quest for culinary excellence. It is also a great team-building activity since a team of two employees represent the company.”

With Title Sponsor Sodexo, the event was powered by Godrej Appliances and Jaycee Homes while being held in association with Godrej Properties, Sleek and Siddhitech Homes. Other partners included Holiday Partner Club Mahindra, Radio Partner Radio City 91.1 FM, Knowledge Partner ITM, Venue Partner Phoenix Market City, Thrill Partner Esselworld, Hamper Partner Rostaa, Gift Partner Croma, Spices Partner Snapin and Ticket Partner BookMyShow.com.

Within 15 days, a total of 53 teams registered for the competition. They were from companies like Housing.com, JP Morgan, Netscribes, Axis Securities, Serra International, Ajmera Group, Wadhwa Group, AMC Cookware, Moonwalk Productions, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Oracle and more. The jury included chef Paul Kinny, Group Director - Culinary Services, Palladium and also top chefs from Belona Hospitality, Big Kahuna, Sodexo, ITM and Club Mahindra Resorts.

After three rounds of intense yet fun cooking, the top three winners were teams from Serra International, Emkay Global Financial Services and Wadhwa Group. They not only got trophies but also fully sponsored holidays in India courtesy Club Mahindra whereas the top 10 finalists won gift Hampers from Rostaa and Esselworld. Apart from the competition there was also a special masterclass by chef Raisa Dsouza from Sodexo, a fire flare bartenders act and a percussionist band which specializes in playing music with kitchen utensils. The emcee engaged the crowd with spot questions on food, beverages and Masterchef and kept rewarding the audience with Snapin Gift Hampers. A photo corner made the crowd indulge in selfies with a chef cutout and other props.

All the ingredients and vegetables that were left post the event were donated to orphanage Bal Anand. Commenting on the event, Mehta said: “Due to the success we saw this year, we have big plans next year to take the scale of the event much higher. We plan to get in one of the TV channels to broadcast the entire event.”

A property of Party Sharty, the inter-corporate cooking championship saw participation from more than 50 companies.
