The Arab Indo Bollywood Awards (AIBA) is a new venture from the United Arab Emirates to recognize, honour and celebrate the achievements of the Indian film industry in the Arab world. Held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on May 29, the event was managed by Cineyug.

The evening was a stage of performances combining the best of Indian and international entertainment. As a prelude to the awards, the media was treated to a Golden Carpet special as the walkout in glitz and glamour giving the world media a glimpse of what beholds. The show was hosted by the spectacular duo of Manish Paul (who made a stylish entry on a sports bike) and Karan Johar (who was accompanied by beautiful belly dancers).

The evening witnessed the alluring Jacqueline Fernandez performing a thematic act on the ‘Tales Of Arabian Nights’ as she made a visually stunning entry, playing the role of the lovely Jasmine dressed in blue. She performed on her popular tracks such as Chittiyan Kalaiyaan, Sooraj Dooba, Yaar Na Miley, Lat Lag Gayi which were blended in with Arabic flavour, enchanting the crowd. This served as a perfect Arab-Indo Bollywood welcome.

The bubbly Parineeti Chopra then took on the dance floor, honouring the leading films nominated and performing to tracks from the movie itself in the movie’s characters. The nominees for the best films included Haider, Queen, PK, Ankhon Dekhi, 2 States , Filmistaan. She performed on songs like Bismil, Locha-e-ulfat, London Thumakda and more.

Sensational singers Kanika Kapoor and Meet Brothers teamed up to celebrate the evening with their power packed performance. The brothers performed on their tracks like Boss and Party Toh Banti Hai while Kapoor performed her latest popular tracks like Lovely and Desi Look. The act concluded with them performing the chartbuster hits Chittiyaan Kallaiyaan and Baby Doll together. Kanika also performed an Arabic version of the Baby Doll track.

The energetic Varun Dhawan then amazed the audience as he entered in a sports car on his popular track Jeena Jeena leading into a hard core dance performance on Besharmi Ki Height, Palat, Saturday Saturday, Jee Karda and Bezubaan Phir Se.

Bollywood star Salman Khan raised the temperature as he made a grand entry from amongst the audience looking dapper in rock-star style. He danced on tracks like Le Le Mazaa, Mashaalah, Fevicol, Main Hoon, Hangover, Yaar Na Miley and Jumme Ki Raat synced with his popular dialogues.

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra made her captivating entry on a hot air balloon and performed an act on her popular songs Asalam E Ishqum, Tune Mari Entriyaan, Ram Chahe Leela, concluding with a finale on her latest Dil Dhadakne Do track where the rest of the star cast, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar joined in for the movie integration and talked about this much awaited release. Also, a live ‘Dubsmash’ was done with the stars sitting in the audience, creating hilarious moments!

Its intention is to create an intense bond between the countries, people and the film industries.”

The awards aim to recognize, honour and celebrate the achievements of the Indian film industry in the Arab world.
