Zee Classic celebrates 75 years of musical genius - RD Burman

Zee Classic, known to celebrate the life and work of evergreen artists and entertain its viewers with a vast library of the greatest movies from the golden era, hosted a musical night dedicated to the life and times of legendary music composer RD Burman on his 21st death anniversary.

The ‘Brooke Bond Taj Mahal presents RD Night’ was held at Manik Sabhagriha Auditorium in Mumbai on Jan. 20. It witnessed renowned artists from the music fraternity come together to commemorate the unconventional legend and celebrate his life’s work, which arguably changed the world of music with chart topping compositions.

As a tribute to Burman, the concert saw Babul Supriyo, Sudesh Bhosle with his son Siddhanta Bhosle, Javed Ali, Madhushree, Anvesha Dutta Gupta, set the stage ablaze with some sensational performances. The concert showcased Burman’s entire life journey through interesting AVs, making of songs, straight from the heart anecdotes shared by industry stalwarts.

The event also showcased some never-seen-before precious memorabilia of RD Burman at the exhibition centre. Some fond memories of Burman’s personal life that never saw the limelight like some unseen photographs, original letters written by Pancham Da, his kurta, glasses, mouthorgan and guitar among others were at display during the inauguration.

His musical journey is imprinted in the minds of music lovers and continues to inspire today's generation. With this concert, we paid a tribute to the musical genius and getting together leading music composers and singers who will recreate the magic called ‘Pancham Da’ in their own unique way. Zee Classic has time and again proved to be India’s favourite channel to experience, relive and be part of Bollywood's most melodic and sparkling era.”

Viewers can catch the entire experience unfold on their television screens soon. Known as versatile and delightfully unpredictable, R D Burman is one of the greatest music personalities of the Hindi movie industry.  The innumerable chartbusters like ‘Aaja aaja main hun pyar tera’, ‘Mehbooba mehbooba’, ‘Piya tu Ab toh Aaja’ and at the same time melodious numbers like ‘Tere bina zindagi se shiqwa’ or ‘Tujhse se naraz nahi' have wowed millions of hearts. He is one of India’s most remarkable artists who through his music said so much that it left words unnecessary.

The channel celebrated the journey of Burman through a festive musical homage, which was presented by Brooke Bond Taj Mahal.
