Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is on a hunt for the most talented cricketers and is currently in Mumbai on Jan. 21 and 22. Young fans have a chance to be a part of KXIP, representing the club at the IPL tournament. Woods United is conducting the selection exercise which is currently on at Venus Sports Academy in Mumbai, today and tomorrow.
This initiative is organized in association with TSD Corporation and the selection process is based on digital activation along with on ground trials. Hundreds of kids across the country can showcase their talent and get associated with their favourite team directly.
In addition, an on ground training and selection camp is being held, from Jan. 6 to March 8, for 100 players shortlisted from all the entries. The top 100 entries will be further streamlined and final 32 will be selected who will play in the ‘Kings Cup’. As a part of the gratification, the winning team will further earn a chance to participate in ‘You vs. Star’ activation where they will get an opportunity to bowl or bat against their favorite KXIP cricketing stars.
In order to participate in the contest, the participants can register themselves online by uploading their performance videos at www.kxip.in/PlayForKings or www.PlayForKings.com. The participants can also link their videos on social media platforms and then invite KXIP fans to vote for their favourite #PLAYFORKINGS participant. The videos will be shortlisted by program official coaches.
Commenting on the initiative, Fraser Castellino, Chief Operating Officer, Kings XI Punjab said: “We at KXIP take immense pride in providing a platform to promote grass root talent. IPL season 7 was fantastic for us not just on field but off field as well. We connected with our fans and supporters through various interactive activities and we intend to continue doing so in the coming season as well. With ‘Play for Kings’, we are collaborating both digital and on ground spaces to reach out to budding cricketers with the intention of providing an opportunity to showcase their skills. This will also allow us to further connect with our fans beyond the catchment area and make them a part of the KXIP family. We would like to wish all the participants luck and hope some extraordinary talent emerges from this program.”
