The Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) has brought together current champions, tennis legends and upcoming talent. Created to fulfill the increasing demand for top-level tennis in Asia, it was the first city-based professional league in the world, played across four international cities - Manila, Singapore, Delhi and Dubai.

Fountainhead Entertainment executed the Delhi edition of IPTL at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from Dec. 6 to 8. The IPTL matches were played between star-studded teams featuring the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Andre Agassi, Ana Ivanovic, Pete Sampras, Sania Mirza and others. The tournament featured a total of 21 Grand Slam Champions and 14 current/former World Number Ones.

Fountainhead was responsible for conceptualizing, designing and complete execution of the league event. IPTL saw a full house audience capacity of almost 12,000 daily. Each day consisted of two matches in a league format between the teams Manila Mavericks, DBS Singapore Slammers, Micromax Indian Aces and UAE Royals. The event also witnessed a special celebrity match where Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone and Sunil Gavaskar played alongwith tennis legends Federer and Djokovic.

The game being played in India for the first time at this level was highly appreciated and welcomed by the fans from all over the country. The tennis fans were extremely enthused to see their dream stars play live. The crowd’s cheer was its peak during the match between Federer and Djokovic, proving the popularity and love for the sport in the country.

Commenting on the challenges faced while managing the event, Rohan Salvi, Vice President - Business Development and Client Servicing (Events), Fountainhead Entertainment, said: “The major challenge was to convert a badminton stadium into an international level tennis arena. Since tennis is a close action sport, the setup in the existing gymnastics arena was directed in a way to have seats up close to the court for the fans to enjoy the game.”

The three match-days were executed by Fountainhead and also saw the presence of Deepika Padukone and Aamir Khan.
