EPIC Channel is India’s first genre specific Hindi entertainment channel that will showcase content based on Indian history, mythology and folklore in a uniquely contemporary format. It was launched on Nov. 7 at Palladium Hotel (Ballroom & Terrace Garden) in Mumbai.

Fountainhead Entertainment (FH) was appointed to conceptualize a media launch event keeping the look and feel of the event synonymous with the channel’s image and content. The brief to FH was to translate the channels programming and content into an experiential evening which was reflected in the sets, décor, engagement activities, entertainment and F&B.

Around 650 invitees included media personnel from production houses, media agencies as well as several celebrities. The guests entered the pre-function area through a fog curtain, after which they had access to multiple experience zones in the pre-function area, which were based on the channel’s programming content. In the ballroom was a massive LED stage and specially created thematic bar with Mughal motifs. The outdoor terrace garden had a three-piece band from Merlins Soul Yatra playing a soothing Indo jazz set before and after the event.

The event began with Sorabh Pant, who was the emcee for the evening, with his short standup act prior to a performance by Bonnie Chakraborty, a musician who specializes in ethnic Indian sounds and their histories and philosophies. Mahesh Samat, MD, The EPIC Channel, then took the stage to introduce the channel to the guests through his speech, AV and TV channel promos. He was followed by the filmmaker, Anurag Basu who spoke about his association with the channel.

Appreciating Fountainhead’s efforts, Mahesh Samat, MD, The EPIC Channel, said: “The grand EPIC Channel launch party was arguably one of the best media events till date. The experience zones, the grand entrance, little decorative items and even the bar design set the stage for a fantastic event. We’re glad to have Fountainhead, one of the best event agencies, execute the event for us taking it to another level far beyond our expectations. All-in-all, with this party, we set the bar high for what the channel has to offer.”

FH developed game content specifically for two engagement zones namely, Dariba Diaries and Dharmakshetra which communicated the crux of the show to the audience through an interactive gaming experience. The grandeur of the show Siyaasat was brought out through a regal setup that also made a great photo op, fabricated to resemble a Mughal courtroom replete with court attendants with fans, Mughal robes, jewellery, weapons, props  etc . In addition, the other engagement stalls included a E-caricaturist who sketched Mughal themed caricatures of the attendees and had the same emailed to them and an ‘EPIC Selfie’ zone which was a Chroma screen setup wherein guests had their picture taken against a multitude of historical backdrops.

Explaining the setup, Rohan Salvi, Vice President - Business Development and Client Servicing (Events), Fountainhead Entertainment, Salvi said: “The setup of the entire event was done keeping in mind the amalgamation of ancient and contemporary India. This is reflected in our use of technology (interactive touchscreens, LEDs) alongside historic props. The entrance to the venue had a fog curtain on which the EPIC logo was projected. In the pre function area, there were various experience zones which were related to the channel shows content and helped reinforce the shows identity in the minds of the attendees.”

Sorabh Pant hosted the event, which was attended by Anurag Basu among 650 invitees at Palladium Hotel in Mumbai.
