Khushii-India on canvas was a very high profile and successful event. The well organized auction started at 7.30 p.m. The event was attended by celebrities like Parmeshwar Godrej, Praful Patel, Kapil Dev, Aman Nath, Nisha JamVwal, and Vandana Luthra among others. Unfortunately,a political partyprotested against India's greatest artist M.F. Husain's painting being auctioned and was pulled off at the 9th hour. Hussain had worked in collabration with Parmeshwar Godrej; the two had created a paintaing called 'Roshni' which symbolised light entering the lives of underprevilaged children.A total of 135 artworks fetched around Rs 17 crore rupees for the NGO Khushii. The top six bids at the auction were Kumar Mangalam and Anjolie Ela Menon's painting for Rs.1.2 Crore. KV Kamath and Paresh Maity at Rs 74 lakh, Lata Mangeshkar and Jayasri Burman at Rs 42 lakhs, Guatam Singahnia and Laxman Shrestha at Rs 32 lakh, Bal Keshav Thackerey and Suhas Roy at Rs 30 lakh and Ruseel Gujral and Ranbir Kaleka at Rs 19 lakh. The event had bidders leaving no stone unturned to raise sufficient money for the welfare of society. DNA, Lodha Builders, Hello! Magazine ,Chivas Regal andTeam Pinnaclewere among the sponsors. The event was organized by Khushii and Hanmer and Partners.
