Momente Weddings Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa Resort
Momente Weddings executed the wedding celebrations of a high profile client, from April 30, 2014 to May 2, 2014 in Krabi, Thailand. The agency’s responsibilities included planning, décor, entertainment and hospitality. The assortment of events took place at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa Resort and catering remained amongst the responsibilities of the hotel.
Darshan Shroff and Neha Shroff, Directors of Momente Weddings mentioned that the brief that they received from the client was simple. Darshan said, “We had to ensure that all guests should have fun and plenty of entertainment and activities through the day should be available for the guests to keep them busy.”
The celebrations started with a Mehndi and Sundowner on April 30, 2014 at Sala Thai, a venue at the hotel. Entertainment included live singers by Samir Tanna. Thai Bamboo Dancing, Thai Boxing, Umbrella and Fan Painting, Soap Carving, Caricature Artist, Nail Art, Mehendi Counters and Foot Massage Counters.
The bride and groom entered on a boat. A Krathong Floating ceremony for the guests was also organized with a special one created for the bride & groom. A live photo booth was created for the guests with Thai Costumes.
The same evening, a 'Casino and Masquerade Night’ for the cocktail party was hosted at the ballroom of the hotel. Casino Tables (Blackjack, Poker & Roulette) with professional dealers, international dancers performing Can Can and Flamingo & Broadway performances. DJ AJ played peppy numbers through the night. A prop counter at the entrance stocked various hats, masks & head gear for the guests to get them in the mood for the evening. There was a gift bank at the exit, where guests could exchange particular number of tokens for various gifts.
The next morning, a Cricket Match and Beach Party took place. The IPL themed cricket match was organised in the lawns of the hotel. As there were four teams, the agency created coloured and customised t-shirts and caps for the players. Cheerleaders, 4 & 6 boards, finger clappers, etc were also distributed among the guests. The live commentary included fun snippets and jokes to lighten the competitive spirit.
A Thai Kite flying session also went on simultaneously for the non-cricketing audience. This was followed by lunch after which an exotic Hawaiian themed beach party was held at Hong Island, where a song sequence for the movie Kaho Na Pyar Hain that was also shot. All the guests were taken by speed boat to the destination.
On departure from the hotel, guests were handed out a beach bag which contained Hawaiian shirts, sarongs, sunglasses and sunscreen lotion. At Hong Island, the attendees were welcomed by hostesses with garlands for the men and head gear and wrist bands for the women. A Hawaiian dance group of Hawaiian drummers and dancers entertained the guests. Additionally, various games were organised at the beach including booth style games like shoot the toys, break the pyramid etc and beach games like Beach Volleyball and Frisbee. Some interesting elements like the limbo dance were also seen at the event. For those keen to explore the island, snorkelling masks were provided and beach kits were arranged for the kids. Food Counters included Thai Coconut Ice-cream, Spiral Potatoes, Ice-Cones, Candy floss etc.
The same evening of May 1, a Sangeet function took place at the hotel’s 1,000 sq.m. air conditioned marquee situated next to the luxurious resort on the edge of Klong Muang Beach. A Moroccan theme which incorporated deep colours and luxurious velvet fabrics sported many Moroccan props such as lamps and surais and lounge seating. The stage was a complete LED wall backdrop setup. Decorated Thai Tuk Tuks ferried guests from the reception to the marquee. The evening saw performances by relatives and friends and other live performers and Belly dancers. Mumbai based singer Rodney and DJ AJ were also roped in for the celebration.
On May 2, a pool party was held in the morning at the poolside of the hotel. The event was predominantly an activity based entertainment zone for the guests. DJ AJ rocked the event while guests dived into the pool. The Rain Dance and Foam Dance made for one of the most enjoyed aspects of the event. Other entertainment included water guns, a dunk tank and water zorbing for the guests. Candy Floss, Fresh coconut water and sugarcane juice and fresh fruits kept the crowd on the sugar high, not to mention the free flowing alcohol.
In the afternoon, a poolside wedding set up in a red, white and gold theme looked sophisticated, yet glamourous. The mandap was built on the pool, with the sunset as the backdrop to the wedding. Musical Pheras by Sameer Tanna’s group added character to the traditional Hindu wedding ceremony.
A Royal Thai band led the baraat. A DJ trolley and dholwalas keeping the baraati’s dancing enthusiastically. Flag bearers, Flower girls and dancers were also seen in the procession. The groom arrived at the venue on an elephant while the bride entered the mandap on an elephant themed palki. The baraat was welcomed by Thai dancers, dancing with candles. A grand fireworks show post the pheras lit up the sky beautifully followed by lots of Thai Lantern releases.
Interestingly, an after wedding UV Party was conducted in the ballroom at Sofitel. In tune with the theme, the decor included neon based props which reflected in the UV Lights. UV paint counters with professional body painters was set up for the guests. The event also saw LED Dance performances and the guests partied till the wee hours of the morning.
