94.3 MY FM Chandigarh organised a summer camp for the kids called 'My Summer Camp', which commenced on May 25 and will continue until June 14. The camp was conceptualised and is being managed by the activation wing of My FM.
Commenting on the summer camp, Harrish M Bhatia, CEO, 94.3 MY FM said, "The objective of the summer camp is to create an activity for kids, during the summer vacation, with the theme ‘Fun while you learn'. We realised that several parents constantly complained about kids sitting in front of the TV all day long and not doing anything productive. Thus, we came up with the idea of organizing the 'My Summer Camp'."
The camps are set up at three different venues covering the city and adjoining areas of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. Promotions for the camp were done through radio and print advertising. A total of around 300 students are participating in the camp. Their age varies from 5-16 years.
There are regular summer camp activities like music, arts and craft, and dance and theater workshops. In addition to this, in order to engage children in an interesting manner, activities like horse riding are being conducted with the support of the Horse Riding Club of Chandigarh. Kids will also be trained in swimming at Hotel Mount View, a five star hotel where My FM RJs would accompany them. Another attraction for kids in this camp is RJ Training by My FM RJs, along with personality development and makeovers by experts.
Bhatia said, "The activities are set to give children an opportunity to express themselves in a creative way, under the supervision of the experts. In future, we plan to take the event to Jalandhar, Amritsar and other Indian cities."
The 15 day summer camp manages to engage 300 children.
