First train fashion show wheels into Limca Book of Records

The first fashion show to be held on a train in India, ‘Fashion Yatra on Deccan Odyssey', has now been listed in the Limca Book of Records. The event, which was organised by Ice Global, Maharashtra Tourism, Indian Railways, Jet Gems and Designer Anita Dongre, took place on May 6, 2007 in Mumbai on the heritage train Deccan Odyssey. The event was given a place in the Limca Book of Records on May 20, 2011.
The main idea behind organising this event was to create awareness and visibility about the re-launching of the train and to showcase chic Indo -Western outfits, complemented by exquisite gems. Bollywood actors Emran Hashmi and Geeta Basra had walked the ramp. The event was conceptualized and executed by Ice Global, in collaboration with Anita Dongre and Jet Gems, and was a grand event attended by top businessmen, celebrities from the world of Indian cinema and the media.
Commenting on the execution, Sushma Gaikwad, Director, Ice Global said: "This was the first scintillating fiesta on wheels as Mumbai's people sashayed to the exciting rhythms of the Deccan Odyssey on rails. There were several coaches of the train which were pre-assigned based on Suite1, Suite 2, Bar, Conference, Dining Coach 1, Dining Coach 2, Spa and Gym, and were divided into green rooms, guest seating and technical console. A special short journey was organised on this luxury train which showcased the fashion show. This event has proved successful in rediscovering Maharashtra in the appropriate royal setting of the Deccan Odyssey."
