Bottomline Media bags marketing consultant role for Hollywood movie

The Zanuck Co., which is producing the Hollywood movie "The Zero Theorem", has appointed Bottomline Media Pvt. Ltd. as the marketing consultants for the movie. The Zanuck Co. has produced the Academy Award winning Driving Miss Daisy, and other movies like Big Fish, Alice in Wonderland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.


This appointment gives Bottomline Media the distinction of reportedly becoming the first Indian marketing agency to independently work as consultants for a Hollywood film. The Zero Theorem will be directed by Academy Award nominee Terry Gilliam and will star Academy Award (Oscar) winner Christoph Waltz. The production is set to shoot in Romania with Media Pro Studios from Oct. 22 to Dec. 3 and is aimed for international distribution.


Bottomline Media has been behind the marketing promotions of films like Ra One, with actor Shahrukh Khan on a Mc Donald Happy Meal, on top of an F1 car, and on all Meru Cabs. The agency also created the Bollywood-based board game of Don 2 and Agent Vinod, and a Sony PlayStation game for the worldwide release of a Bollywood film.


Commenting on how Bottomline Media was appointed for the role, Tanaaz Bhatia, Managing Director, Bottomline Media, told EVENTFAQS: "The Zanuck Company approached us. There were a lot of international marketing initiatives with Ra.One and other movies we did last year, they heard about the innovations and firsts we did in Bollywood and all our international partners (brands) referred us."


Talking about Bottomline Media's role as marketing consultants for the movie, Bhatia added: "We have a hugely talented creative team and we have done some path breaking firsts in the field of marketing in India - Sony Ra.One PlayStation game, global campaign for a Bollywood film with a brand, McDonalds Happy Meal, board games around Don 2. Based on our belief, we hope to yet surprise you with more innovations. This could be the first Hollywood film with Indian brands, wait and watch, can't reveal too much at this stage. Also, it is yet premature to share what strategy we are looking at, but all I can say is there will definitely be a first again."

Bottomline will reportedly be the first Indian marketing agency to independently work as consultants for a Hollywood film.
