Bawraas, an initiative by Vikram Sathaye, Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu Moitra, organized a fundraiser that took place on March 15 at Rangsharda Auditorium in Bandra, Mumbai. The fundraiser event, titled Laughter, Lyrics and Music for Krushnaa Patil - the youngest Indian woman to climb Mt. Everest in order to raise money for her next mission to Mt. Makalu, was executed by event partner NeoNiche Integrated Solutions.

Barwaas is an initiative aimed at identifying talented individuals who have shown considerable promise in pursuing non-conventional careers. It also aims to support these individuals by providing a platform to showcase their talent, providing access to resources to give them a head start to achieving their dreams, and giving them adequate mentoring to eventually become self dependent and be able to support themselves.

The event, which had a simple setup of a centre backdrop and LED screens, started with an hour long comedy act by Vikram Sathaye, who talked about a number of topics including cricket, current affairs, education, music etc. This was followed by the accompaniment of Nilesh Kulkarni, another founding member of Bawraas, who entertained the crowd with his imitations of several personalities.

Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu Moitra then came on stage along with their band and started the performance with their rendition of Ab Ke Saavan, followed by music from films like Khoya Khoya Chand, 3 Idiots and Parineeta amongst others. They were then accompanied on stage by Baul musician Bonny Chakraborthy and finally by Shaan along with whom they released the Bawraas theme song - Tu Bawraa Hai Toh Chal.

The event, which had Aditya Birla Finance as the event sponsors, was promoted through print ads, invites, outdoor promotion, along with digital and social media promotion. It was attended by more than 800 people who entered through the purchase of passes. Some of the celebrities who attended included Dia Mirza, Sonali Kulkarni, Harsha Bhogle, Roshan Abbas, Gaurav Kapur and Mandira Bedi. The fundraiser also saw Bollywood star Vidya Balan along with Rakesh Singh, CEO, Aditya Birla Finance, present Krushnaa Patil with a cheque for INR 10 lakhs towards her next expedition to Mt. Makalu.

Commenting on the event, Prateek Kumar, CEO and MD, NeoNiche Integrated Solutions said: "Bawraas is the right platform which identifies with NeoNiche's larger CSR objective. Hence we did not have a second thought before partnering with such a noble cause, and the fun we had managing the concert was an out and out bonus."

The fundraiser, aimed to raise money for Krushnaa Patil’s next mission to Mt. Makalu, was executed by NeoNiche.
